After my previous rant, I think I need to write a more light hearted review and what better than to review Finland's original chocolate company. If you love continental chocolate, then you'll love Fazer as it was originally a Swiss recipe.
Established in 1891, Fazer's chocolate in blue wrapping has become Finland's favourite chocolate bar. It's easy to see why, made with real milk and that smooth, sweet taste that just leaves you wanting more.
The main brand in Finland has developed a wide range of varieties, including a bar which has both white and milk chocolate, a biscuit one, and plain weird ones, such as the 'hot chilli chocolate.' In the main Finnish supermarkets, e.g. "K-Mart" and "S-Mart" the chocolate is reasonably priced, not really that much different to English prices.
As of yet, I have not discovered the usual Fazer chocolate in any English shops, except for a special Christmas market held in the Finnish Church in London (really worth a visit by the way.) However, in shops such as Tk Max and the 99P Store, Fazer Liqueur Fills have been sold. You get ID'd for them if you look young and really it's no wonder- try not to choke when you bite into your first Fazer Vodka Lemon & Lime choc! Very messy, but lots of fun!
All in all, if you ever come across a chocolate bar in a blue wrapper, then buy it, you really, really won't regret it! Unless of course it's the Chilli bar...
I have discovered Fazer when I first traveled to Finland. It was probably one of the reasons for which I fell in love with that country. There were a few other reasons for doing that, but of all I really miss Fazer. It's such a pitty I can't order it online. But I guess it will be worth spending the money for travelling to Finland just for buying that. Once I started one piece, I can't help getting some more. My name is Svenje Nymark and I am a Sven.
