Ferrero Mon Cheri
Disadvantages: Don't try if tee-total, quite hard to find in the UK
The Ferroro people are far more well known for making certain gold-wrapped chocolates that you might find at the Ambassador's reception than they are for Mon Cheri, especially in the UK. For some reason, I've stumbled across these a lot more in Europe - places like Spain and Switzerland - than I have over here. That's a shame, because they're lovely chocolates.
These are chocolate liquors at their finest. Bite into the plain chocolate, and inside you'll find cherry brandy, and one whole and delicious cherry (but without the stone). It can be quite messy eating these, unless you're careful, or unless you stick the whole chocolate in your mouth at once. Try to avoid spilling sticky brandy everywhere.
This shouldn't need saying, but they do contain actual alcohol, so keep them away from kids. I'm not sure what the alcohol content is, but I doubt you'll get drunk on one or two. A full box of fifteen in one go however may be a different matter.
As I said, they can be quite hard to find in the UK. If desperate though, you can usually hunt down a box on eBay for around £6 including postage. Not cheap, but worth it.
