Round white balls of coconut delight - a very sweet pleasure
Member Name: rolandrat
Advantages: Beautiful coconut flavour
Disadvantages: None unless you do not like cocnut!
Made by Italian company Ferrero. The company began in the 1940s but it was 1982 that Ferrero Rocher came on the market.
Raffaello was introduced in 1989.
These are round ball chocolates similar to the standard Ferrero Rocher.
However these are white, covered in dessicated coconut and with a creamy filling and an almond centre.
In the perspex boxes these sweets come in little white paper cases and are wrapped in clear cellophane, but with a foil base to the wrapper - also has a red band and 'Raffaello' on the wrapping.
Mine came in an assortment box with the dark and milk chocolate versions but they can also be bought in boxes on their own.
£6 for a box of 24 at Tesco.
For years I had only ever bought and eaten the standard milk chocolate Ferrero Rocher, though I had seen the variety boxes of coconut, milk and dark flavours in various locations.
I am not one to buy lots of sweets for myself but was pleased to be given a selection box by Ferrero for my Birthday.
These white balls of coconut would look fantastic on display and would look just like a pile of fluffy snowballs. When you remove the wrapper you have a lovely coconut smell emerge.
One word or warning - there is so much dessicated coconut around these sweets that some comes adrift and may fall all over the place - so be careful when you eat them.
These taste of coconut through and through, and I had forgotten how much I love coconut. The outer shell of coconut covers a ball of wafer, which encloses a creamy filling surrounding an almond.
These are just delicious - but are very much a coconut flavour as they are nearly one quarter made of coconut, so if you love coconut them definitely go for these.
These are not cheap sweets and work out at around 25p each - so not your everyday choice but they are great for a tasty treat occasionally or to give as a surprise gift to someone.
If you are not sure what they would like it is a safe bet to go for the selection box of 16 sweets for £4.29.
