Galaxy Cookie Crumble
Advantages: Chocolate... WITH COOKIES!!!?!?!??!
Disadvantages: can't enjoy it melting as much.
At the same time, my flat mate (who also works with me) has been challenged by our crazy Irish friend to give up sugar for a week just to see how horrible it is (actually the original challenge was to down 20 shots of lime cordial in a row and THEN give up sugar for a week...) SO! Because of this my flatmate was clearing out her drawers (a phrase I never intend to use again) which are full of sweets (oh god the images). I lifted my head long enough to snatch a galaxy cookie crumble from her, then lowered my head rapidly towards the cheap, faux pine desk.
I first heard of these things when the girl across from me mentioned them. I looked at her in amazement as she described what they are. They are bars of Galaxy chocolate...but they are better. They have big chunks of chocolate cookies floating through it. Then I tried to find them myself.
This proved difficult and I shall blame it on the packaging. The wrapper is almost exactly the same as a normal bar of galaxy except it has "cookie crumble" in small writing below the big "GALAXY" text. There are also two tiny looking cookies floating about above it. It would take an expert to notice the difference straight away and I don't think you get many experts of Galaxy chocolate wrappers.
The chocolate is the exact same as you would find in a plain Galaxy, so it does that luxurious melt in your mouth jazz that any decent chocolate should be doing. Then it does something different. It gives way to a rough, crunchy, cookie texture in the middle. It took some getting used to as I like to sit chocolate in my mouth till it melts. This bar needs a bit more chewing than I would like. However, it is cookie that you are chewing. How could anyone complain about that?!?
Being quite happy with my little bar, however, was not sitting well with my colleague today. She proceeded to pull out her GIANT bar of cookie crumble and brag about it. I'm sure I know how to use my bar better than her, but hey, now you know that it comes in all shapes and sizes! At the moment, cookie crumble is quite difficult to find in small bars. At least in my area. Possibly because I live in Scotland where being overweight just means that you are one step closer to more benefits. We don't do SMALL food and if we DID we would do LOTS of it. Then we would deep fry it. Remind me to deep fry a bar of this stuff.
---Good for you---
The wrapper likes to indulge my fantasy that chocolate is good for you by telling me you can enjoy this bar as part of a healthy balanced diet (which apparently does not mean having a drink in each hand). Given that I have just came out of a period of counting calories a lot, I am much more aware just how awfully calorific these things are (246 calories a bar, the equivalent of a small meal if you play your cards right) Thankfully, given I have just came out of a period of counting calories a lot, I am OUT of it and so I don't really care what I'm eating unless I'm choking on it. Don't worry yourselves though, I'm really good at eating so I hardly ever choke.
---Give me more---
As if adding cookies to chocolate isn't enough to make you want to buy this stuff, Galaxy are currently running a promotion (up to august 31st) where you can win books when you buy their chocolate. See their plan? Feed you up then make you sit on your backside. Give it a year and you won't be able to move out of your chair, but you WILL have the internet set up on your laptop so you can order more Galaxy to your door. Evil or what! To add to the evilness of it, Galaxy are sponsoring Richard And Judy (aka Evil Emperors of the planet Televisionous Crapicus) and their book club. Rather oddly, you need to be at least 16 to participate in this fun little venture with evil themselves. Don't ask me why, I don't know. Either way, I like that my cookie crumble encourages people to read (even if they have ulterior motives). People don't do enough of that.
---So...It's good, yes?---
Yes, it is! It is very good. I love it to little bits. Specially when it's free. Not that it costs any more than a normal bar where I've seen it. I still prefer normal plain galaxy, but when I'm in the mood for being a crazy wild man, I think this stuff might get a good seeing to. If you haven't tried it, go stuff your face right now!!
Summary: Chocolate with cookies.
