A fantastic cure for a sore throat!

Around a fortnight ago I had a terrible throat and chest infection. Being in the first trimester of pregnancy I was unable to take any kind of medication and with a toddler to take care of all day I was feeling pretty exhausted. Knowing that I could barely face most foods my husband very kindly came home from work with a bag of Galaxy Mini Eggs for my indulgence. Galaxy Mini Eggs are packaged in 100g bags, or at least those that I had were, bigger bags may be available. The packaging has changed slightly to the picture above and it is now a rather attractive sandy brown with a darker brown flower motif and a picture of the eggs wrapped and unwrapped. At the footer of the packaging is a little statement which reads "Little eggs of smooth Galaxy milk chocolate". There is also a rather small, almost unnoticeable Treatwise logo stating that each egg contains 40 calories which equates to 2.0% of an adult's GDA. Now I am usually very conscious of my diet and knowledgeable of my intake and with this being a little treat, I quickly bypassed that particular information! As I opened the packet the familiar smell of Galaxy chocolate was very evident. Each egg was individually wrapped in gold foil with the Galaxy 'G' in a chocolate brown colour. The outer shell of these eggs is of a typical Galaxy chocolate, the inside however is much smoother and almost tastes like whipped creamy chocolate, though still with the fabulous taste of Galaxy. My only disappointment was that each egg was the same and I had somehow expected a selection of flavours in there. Whilst nearing the end of the bag I also pondered as to just why each tiny egg needed to be individually wrapped, surely if the packaging had been kept minimal then the eggs would have still had the same luxurious taste. The foil wrapping seemed to serve no purpose with the outer packet and I thought back to when I had recently sampled Aero Bubbles. Aero Bubbles are not individually wrapped and are packaged in the same outer packaging format, yet they do not stick together and taste just as good. Overall these eggs are quite simple addictive. As soon as one egg has melted in your mouth your taste buds will be asking for another, and another, and another! In fact that evening I sat in bed feeling rather ill and sorry for myself and finished the entire bag, prompting my husband to buy me another the very next day! I was also particularly impressed with just how well they soothed my throat. Who needs medicine when you have chocolate? As aforementioned each Galaxy Mini Egg contains 40 calories (2.0% GDA). There are 2.4g of fat in each egg yet only 1.4g of saturated fat, which means that one or two can be enjoyed as a little treat without any real harm to your diet. That is of course if you can limit yourself to one or two! Galaxy Mini Eggs are currently available at £1.09 per bag from Tesco, though at the time of review they are on offer at two bags for £2.00. Not a great saving of just 18p but a saving nonetheless!

Great tasting and great to share.

With Easter coming up very soon I decided to have a look at the Easter treats section in my local coop. I found these as part of a deal which was any two for £1.50 which I thought wasnt bad. I also bought a pack of Dairy Milk Caramel eggs with this deal. I also love Cadburys Caramel bars and have had many of the eggs for easter over the years. I am a big fan of Galaxy Milk Chocolate so I was delighted when I first tasted these eggs a while ago but it has been many months since I had eaten any of these. Opening the pack I remembered what they were like and that even though the outer part of the egg is just like the bar the middle of the egg contains a milk chocolate cream which is similar to the Galaxy bar but even creamier. Each bag has 542 calories, 6.9g Protein, 56.6g Carbohydrates (56.1g of which sugars) and 31.9g Fat (19.4g of which saturates) Each Galaxy Mini egg is 40 calories which isnt too bad and is 15 calories less than the Cadburys Caramel mini eggs. The Galaxy bag is listed at 100g. There are 542 calories in the whole bag which is about right for a 100g bag compared to the blocks of chocolate you get from the likes of Galaxy and Cadburys. This is smoother chocolate than Cadburys and has a lovely creamy taste that will give a great sensation as it melts in your mouth. It is great for sharing and it is not advised to eat any more than one bag of these in one as you will feel rather bloated and it's not so good for your waistline if you were to eat two of these bags in one go. Overall this is one of the nicest bags of chocolates I have ever had and I am sure that this is guaranteed to sell well up to and just after Easter Sunday as it is a great treat for everyone. Galaxy Mini Eggs are delicious but watch your waistline if you have two bags.
