Extraordinary chocolate coated wafer bar with cocoa cream.

      ~~Goplana Grzeski Chocolate Wafer~~

This is an extraordinary chocolate coated wafer bar with cocoa cream

I am generally not a chocolate loving person and I try and avoid anything with chocolate if I can. Something recently happened which made me override this rule for once. My friend went to Poland recently for a wedding and as an office treat she bought us all a few Polish goodies including some chocolate bars, one of which was the "famous" Grzeski chocolate coated wafer bar. I accepted the goodies as I was very embarrassed to tell her that I didn't like chocolates (so I thought) so I took the chocolates home for later sampling. I gave some to my daughters and decided to eat just half the bar so that I could give her some feedback the following day. What happened next was just extraordinary. It turned out I really liked this chocolate wafer and my girls wanted even more of it with our weekly shopping to the extent that they were prepared to forgo something in place of this. This left me wondering where I would get the chocolates so my first point of call was the internet. To my surprise these goodies are actually available in Tesco which was handy for me as I do my grocery shopping at Tesco.

      ~~Visibility and Packaging~~

The chocolate bar is clearly visible from the rest, with a navy blue wrapper with a distinct image of the delicious wafer and the clearly visible name Grzeski printed in big red font with each letter surrounded with yellow and brown borders. The packaging is good, simple, thin wrapping which is fairly intact so does not split open easily.

      ~Availability and Price~

Grzeski Wafers come in 3 flavours:

      1. Goplana Grzeski Hazelnut Wafer (milk chocolate coated wafer bar with hazelnut cream)
      2. Goplana Grzeski Toffi Wafer (milk chocolate coated wafer bar with toffee flavoured cream)
      3. Goplana Grzeski Chocolate Wafer (chocolate coated wafer bar with cocoa cream)

These wafers are actually layers of wafer biscuits coated with brown chocolate. They are manufactured in Poland (www.grzeski.pl) and are mainly available from shops which sell Polish products but conveniently also available from Tesco in the food section, Food from Around the World (Poland).

The wafers come in 39G bars and cost £0.39 per bar ~ 1 pence per gramme.

      ~~Smell, Taste, Texture and Quality~~

Although I tried all the 3 varieties, I didn't really like the other two and my best of the lot was the Goplana Grzeski Chocolate Wafer - Chocolate coated wafer bar with cocoa cream.
As soon as you open the wrapper you instantly get this rush of nice smelling chocolate which really sets your taste buds ready for the job. The smell is quite pleasant which is important for me as smell completely puts me off eating some food stuffs.

The quality is good. It is very tasty with mild sweetness, soft, crispy, non sticky and just melts in your mouth. Not much effort is required to eat it as not much chewing is required and does not stick to your teeth or gums like other chocolates. Because of the wafer component, it does not snap smoothly like with hard chocolates so can get a bit messy due to the crumbs.

      ~~Recommended Storage~~

The chocolate wafer should be kept in a cool and dry place (recommended 12-18°C).
It can also be kept in the fridge and this does not affect the taste, even good as it reduces the crumbs which fall off when eating. When hot it is actually better to store in the fridge to avoid the chocolate coating melting.

      ~~My overall view~~

It is very nice and light just to eat as a snack but can also be taken with tea or coffee as well.
The bar is just the right size to eat as a snack, only 39G. Just like any snacks, would not recommend more than one a day or to replace a meal. This is a nice snack to share with friends and like everything else it has to be taken in moderation, remember no matter whom you are it is good to watch your weight.

Tempting as it might be, I limit myself to 1 per week if I have to have this goodie. We tend to buy these on Friday to share in my office.

I am impressed that Tesco is encompassing foods from around the world.

I have nothing bad to say about this product and I give it 5 stars and my girls love it too.

Give it a try, you will live it!!
