An Introduction...
As more of a dark chocolate gal than a milk chocolate one, I've long been a fan of Green and Blacks 85% cocoa bar. Bitter, dark and velvety, it's one of my favourite treats - and has the added value of a great big dose of antioxidants to alleviate any post binge guilt.

But as my local supermarket is currently running a "Buy 3 for the price of 2" special offer on the Green and Blacks range, I decided that a bit of guilt shouldn't get in the way of some sugary goodness, and splurged on a bar each of dark, milk, and white. And I have to say, the sweetness of the milk chocolate made a very pleasant change to the bitterness of my usual choice.

The Brand...
Green and Black are a UK based company, specialising in the production of premium-priced, organic, fair-trade chocolate bars, ice-cream, biscuits and hot chocolate.

The Packaging...
The bar is presented in a mid-blue paper wrapping (in order to distinguish it from other products in the G&B range, all of which are presented as a different colour to differentiate between their otherwise identical appearance). The packaging marks the product out as something of a high range product - no vulgar wrapping or gaudy writing here! In fact, a bundle of the chocolate wrapped in a bow would make a very presentable gift.

The Chocolate...
The chocolate comes in the form of a 100g bar - so, plenty of bang for your buck, but it disappears surprisingly quickly, nonetheless (if you're anything like me, anyway!).

The chocolate itself is lovely: creamy and sweet, but without the synthetic sicklyness you sometime encounter in mass produced confectionery. According to it's marketing claims, G&B include more cocoa in their milk chocolate bars than do other ranges, which perhaps accounts for the satisfying "chocolateyness" of the product, and it's undoubtedly superior taste. I like dark chocolate, and am used to the slight bitterness innate to such products; however, those who prefer a very milky, tooth-achingly sweet chocolate (ala Galaxy or Dairy Milk) may find the taste a little stronger than their usual preference (although it is by no means a dark or bitter chocolate by the usual standard).

Price and Availability...
In terms of price, the chocolate is very reasonable - £1.19 per bar (with the added advantage in this instance of a third bar for free). Green and Black are known for the quality of their ingredients, and so while the price may seem high in comparison to a Mars bar, it is fairly cheap in comparison to a lot of the higher-end chocolate's on the market (despite being very similar in taste, at least in my opinion). And in the case of this particular bar, the ingredients are all organic, thus making the price even more reasonable.

As for availability, Green and Blacks are stocked in most good supermarkets (and, somewhat surprisingly, an awful lot of health food shops... maybe chocolate really is good for us, after all...)

Overall, a very pleasant chocolate at a reasonable price.

Summary: A Lovely Bar of Chocolatey Goodness from a Consistently Reliable Brand
