Green and Black's are known for producing good quality organic, fair trade chocolate. Their Almond milk chocolate was new to me - I'm not normally a fan of nut chocolate but I've enjoyed trying other flavours and I thought I would give this a chance.
The packaging oozes sophistication, with a light brown middle and a dark brown strip across the top (the opposite of the picture). It states that the chocolate is 37% cocoa, is suitable for vegetarians, contains milk, nuts and soya, and may contain traces of cereal.
Inside, the chocolate looks like Green and Black's normal milk chocolate, except that when you turn it over you can see tiny little lumps which are the bits of almond. In taste the chocolate is rich and creamy, with a hint of vanilla. The tiny almond pieces, which are plentiful, contrast nicely with the chocolate and take the edge off the sweetness, while adding a nice crunchy texture. I think G and B were right to use their milk chocolate with almonds and not dark chocolate - it's a great combination.
A 100g bar costs under £2, and you can often get 2 for £3 in Tesco or other supermarkets. A bar contains 576 calories per 100g - not low calorie, but hey, it's chocolate - what did you expect?!
Overall, I was impressed with this chocolate and, while it isn't my absolute favourite, I'm sure I'll buy it again.
I got a bar of this Green & Blacks Milk Chocolate With Almonds for Xmas and I've only just got round to eating it tonight. This is a 100g bar and costs about £1.79.
The milk chocolate is smooth and mega creamy, I love Green & Blacks dark chocolate but haven't had a lot of their milk. It's proper nice too, it's got a delish creamy flavour and is sweet but not majorly sickly. I don't think it's sickly at all actually because there are shedloads of almonds in it and that takes a lot of the sweetness off.
When you turn the bar upside down you can see that there are loads of almonds in it and the smell that comes up is of yummy sweet chocolate.
The nuts have got a lovely crunch and the taste of them is fresh and goes proper nice with the chocolate. It's deffo a posher version of a Whole Nut and has got a perfect taste and texture, I love how DIFFERENT this tastes from other nutty chocolate bars. It taste of mega good quality and is simple as well so that there aren't loads of different flavours in it.
I think the almonds was a good choice because I love these nuts in chocolate, it's the soft but crunchy texture that I like more than anything and the way the texture goes so nice with the smooth chocolate. I tried to suck the chocolate off the nuts but was too impatients and couldn't stop myself munching all the chocolate and nuts together.
I thought this was a wicked chocolate bar but I think there are deffo more exciting ones from Green & Blacks, it wasn't boring but there wasn't anything special about it. It was yummy though so still worth buying I reckon, it's the sort of chocolate that you have when you fancy something easy but if you're in the mood for a treat then you should try one of their flavoured dark chocolate bars.
