Advantages: Tasty, unique
Disadvantages: Sickly, fattening, quite salty
I tried my first Reese's Nutrageous bar a couple of days ago. It was brought for me from Tesco on a half price deal for 28p (usually 56p).
Nutrageous is a chocolate bar made by Hershey - one of Americas most popular chocolate manufacturers which is slowly (but surely) making it's way over to the UK. Nutrageous was introduced in 1994 but I've only recently seen it on our shelves.
The bar is made from chocolate, peanut butter, roasted peanuts and caramel. It's basically a chocolate bar with caramel, peanuts and peanut butter crammed into it. It comes in an orange pack and the size of the bar is 51g. The chocolate itself is around 4 or 5 inches long and has a lumpy texture (looks a bit like a lion bar) due to the peanuts inside.
Seeing as I don't like peanuts or peanut butter I was a bit worried about how it was going to go down. However I was starving at the time and I do somehow like Snickers, so I gave it a try.
To my suprise it was really nice. The peanut butter and camarel was really soft and the peanuts gave it a nice crunch. Towards the end it did get a bit sickly though.
The disadvantages were that I actually thought my throat was going to close up because of how thirsty I was afterwards! It must have had too much salt in it because I just had this salty taste and dry sensation in my mouth until I had a drink. Each nutrageous bar also contains 17g of fat and 260 calories which is really quite bad.
I may have only rated it 3 stars but I would still recommend trying it simply because it's quite a unique chocolate bar. I don't think I've seen anything like it before anyway. Peanut butter enthusiasts would probably benefit from this too.
It's gelatine free which means it's suitable for vegetarians. It is also free from added colours and flavourings.
