Hershey's Reese's Nutrageous
Disadvantages: difficult to find
Yesterday I wrote a review for the site on Reese's pieces - an M&M-like peanut butter centred sweet that I picked up in Morrisons. I wrote at the time that they were incredibly moreish and as I had to revisit Morrisons to pick up some milk that I had forgotten these were still on my mind. Typically for me I chose a till that didn't have the pieces on display, but did manage to pick up a bar of Nutrageous instead.
Packaged in a bright orange wrapper similar to the one shown above, this is a thickly chocolate coated bar with a centre of smooth peanut butter and individual peanuts surrounding the centre. Unlike Snickers which is rectangular in shape, this is actually a long rounded roll probably the same length as other chocolate bars available.
Taking your first bite you break through the thick, sweet chocolate and are met with the crunchy, salty peanuts before ending up with the peanut butter centre. The saltiness of the peanuts mixes with the richness of the chocolate and together the taste is divine. Your mouth waters with the intense savouriness of the nuts and if allowed to melt in your mouth your tastebuds are bombarded with the combination of flavours, Far more of an intense hit than the pieces I described yesterday this is a far more filling and satisfying treat than the pieces and I enjoyed every single bite.
The chocolate on a Hershey's bar tastes a lot sweeter than Cadburys and I noticed that it is thinner in consistency and texture, being an American brand and again manufactured in the US there is no nutritional information listed on the wrapper but once again I can't imagine this being low in either calorie or fat content. Being a peanut based chocolate bar it is obvious that those with a peanut allergy need to stay far away from these bars as they won't be suitable for them. If you don't have a problem with peanuts though then one of these makes for a filling, tasty treat that makes a change from the usual Cadburys and Nestle selections.
I liked this bar far more than the pieces as the flavours were more intense and filling and for the cost - 55p you can't go wrong. As I said in my other review its the tracking down of these that seems to be a problem, I have only ever found them in Morrisons on the chocolate bar section on the checkouts and depending on which checkout you visit will determine which choice from the range you will be offered. As far as I am aware there are 3 choices available from the Hershey's Reese's range; this Nutrageous bar, the pieces I reviewed yesterday and the peanut butter cups which seem to be the hardest to track down as Morrisons only have them in occasionally. All three make for a delicious choice and for me they are out of this world.
A definite 5/5 Dooyoo stars for me, I'm not even deducting a star for the lack of nutritional information this time, you know what to expect from a bar of chocolate and one containing peanuts and peanut butter isn't going to be the healthiest of choices you can make. Eaten in moderation or when the fancy takes you this is a superb choice if you want an alternative to Cadburys.
Summary: Chocolate covered peanut butter bar - divine!
