The eggs of numbing inevitability
Member Name: B-justice
Advantages: Chocolate and a toy
Disadvantages: Toys can be crap. Chocolate is lacking
Kinder eggs hold an esteemed part of my childhood. They were both the best and the worst thing I could ever buy with pocket money. Granted those were at different times of my childhood and often depended on what kind of toy was in circulation at the time.
-The eggs of numbing inevitability-
The world theory of kinder eggs is simple. Chocolate + toy = happiness. For the most part scientists would agree some are disputed on wether white or milk chocolate yields greater amounts of happiness and so kinder have gone for a half and half approach. The chocolate egg shell it milky on the outside and white on the inside with no way to pry the two apart if you preferred one or the other. Inside that is item two of our happiness equation. The toy, this inside its own protective shell. Preventing accidental toy consumption. ( according to science, this is bad). The toy comes with instructions. Stickers if applicable and a picture of the whole set for you to collect.
-The gold egg-
Our eggs of happiness are contained in a thin foil package, the foil keeps the chocolate fresh and tasty and is easy to remove when needed. It doesn't do well to protect the chocolate from breakage after purchase, but chances are your not saving it for later. The eggs are kept safe in transit in a similar manner to normal eggs, just more colourful. This colourful packaging often displays the toys that box of happy eggs has to offer. The chocolate can be broken into with ease unlike most chocolate eggs that have been known to require a chisel. It melts in the mouth easily meaning no sharp pointy bits. The newer packaging for the toys is a godsend. No joke but I have cut my mouth as a child trying to get one of the old capsules open with my teeth because it wouldn't budge normally. The newer capsules feature a lift open yet stays shut mechanism that simply works and I just wish it were around when I were younger. The toys are a little hit and miss, what I do enjoy is building my toy and the feeling of accomplishment after as I sent my new racecar driving up the walls and cupboards. Stickers were even better though not all of them would be placed where I was instructed. (Part of the fun in my opinion)
-the bad egg-
The fun of construction was often beat down by the sheer number of toys that were quite simply , just models. Eg Smurfs, Animals, the like. They often required one click to put together or not build at all. They even had instructions depicting your already compete papa smurf. These are the times I hated and often felt cheated by kinder eggs. I also place jigsaws in this hate because in my opinion. Puzzles were just plain lazy. The chocolate is nothing special, I can see that they tried to be different by combining white and milk chocolate and for things like the kinder maxi and the bueno this works. They are delicious. The chocolate for the egg however was just lacking. It's too thin and lacks a real definite flavour. It's an uncomfortable ground between milk and regular chocolate in flavour. The maxi works because you can taste the two different chocolates. The egg pales in comparison.
Kinder eggs are very hit and miss. If they were more substantial with the chocolate the. I'd say get them every time but with the thin struggling chocolate your really buying them for the little toy. Chances are you'll be disappointed anyway. I'd spend the money on more enjoyable confectionery.
