I know Lindt chocolate very well so before I tried it I knew what the milk chocolate would taste like, I didn't know what adding caramel would be like though as Lindt milk chocolate is very sweet anyway so before trying Luscious Caramel I was worried that the whole range of flavours together would be too sweet. I didn't know there was any truffle in the bar when I first tried it because I'm a greedy guts and didn't stop to read the packet before I tucked in! I was pleasantly surprised though because the truffle flavour isn't as sweet as the caramel and chocolate (it is a bit sweet though!) so I think this was a good ingredient to add.
The caramel is exciting, it's sweet and syrupy with a butter flavour. The best way to eat it is to nibble away some of the chocolate (or suck it if you've got more patience!) so that the caramel warms up slightly and goes more runny, then it will spill out into your mouth and completely change the nature of the chocolate bar. The taste and texture of the caramel goes so nice with the chocolate and truffle, the three together are complimentary to each other and help to bring out all of the sweet flavours.
I can only manage to eat three or four segments at one go because Luscious Caramel is very sickly, this is partly because of the bar being so sweet overall but also I find it extremely rich in flavour. The truffle melts in my mouth but not as quickly as the chocolate so it feels like every layer that is melting is just replaced with one that's even sweeter and richer, the chocolate is quite thick on the top and sides of the bar and as it's so creamy it makes the bar very filling even if you don't eat much of it. This is probably a good bar for dieters if you know someone you can give the rest to because it's so rich and satisfying that a couple of segments will be enough (or should be!!).
Described as irresistible milk chocolate from Lindt! Indulgent caramel, layered on top of delicious, creamy truffle and enrobed in an indulgent layer of smooth milk chocolate. A real chocoholics favourite surely.
