Lindt Lindor Mini Eggs
Advantages: Delicious chocolate fondant wrapped in a thick milk chocolate shell
I have been, well, 'egg-ceedingly' good on my diet over Easter this year, I informed everyone that they were not to buy me any chocolate and surprisingly only one person did. I didn't complain when my niece handed me a bag of Lindt Lindor Mini Eggs as, frankly, who would?
These are tiny replicas of the standard size Lindor egg, the bag I received contained 20 small eggs all of which are individually wrapped in the luxurious looking red and gold foil.
The chocolates are divine, I could end my review there but unfortunately I am nowhere near the minimum word count. Each egg consists of a relatively thick milk chocolate shell and is filled with a smooth chocolate fondant filling. The thing I adore about these mini eggs is that, by design, there is far less filling than in the larger Lindor eggs and therefore the eggs are not as sickly.
To describe the taste of Lindor chocolate is 'eggstremely' difficult. The chocolate shell itself is easy, it's simply the very best tasting chocolate I have eaten in a long time. It's a very soft chocolate which will begin to melt as soon as you lay your fingers on it, actually that is a little annoying when it comes to these eggs as the small size of the causes the chocolate to melt even quicker and this can lead to the problem of foil sticking to the chocolate and refusing to budge unless you dig your nails in to remove the pesky foil. Yes, Lindor chocolate can be a very messy 'eggsperience'.
The fondant is the component of this chocolate that I am having trouble describing, the words I come up with simply will not do justice to this wonderful chocolate. The fondant melts to an almost liquid consistency within seconds of popping it into your mouth, as soon as the outer shell has melted the fondant will begin heating up and then suddenly you will have the most delicious creamy chocolate in your mouth. The melting process is rather sudden and this unfortunately means that sometimes, particularly with these small eggs, the filling of the egg is almost gone before you have even realised it was there - and then you'll find yourself reaching out for another one.
Lindor Mini Eggs are 'eggstraordinarily' addictive, I am rather proud of myself that I have managed to savour this bag and still have a couple of eggs left even after four days. This may not sound like much of a feat but, although dieting, I am a confirmed chocoholic - honestly I shall be glad when they're gone and the temptation has been removed!
I am not sure how readily available Lindor Mini Eggs are now Easter has been and gone, I imagine some of the small independent shops will continue to stock them for a while and supermarkets are already slashing the prices of their Easter leftovers so you may be in for a bargain if you look around.
Myself, I completely recommend them. A standard size Lindor egg is far too sickly for me, and recently I have found even the small Lindor chocolates seem too rich, so personally this much smaller version is ideal as I can enjoy all the flavour of Lindor without the horrible bloated feeling afterwards.
Summary: Mini eggs but maximum flavour.
