Malty, Chocolate Balls!

Advantages: creamy chocolate, malty centres, great textures
In my opinion one of the best products that Mars make is Maltesers, and recently I have been purchasing quite a lot of these. This is due to the fact that I found a recipe for a malt chocolate cheesecake (http://www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/988642/malt-ch ocolate-cheesecake) which is meant to taste like maltesers and is decorated with maltesers on the top. But obviously I cannot possibly use all those maltesers without treating myself to eating a few of them.
Maltesers were first sold in 1937 (Wikipedia) and comprises of a malty, honeycomb centre covered in milk chocolate.
You can purchase maltesers from most supermarkets, local shops and other retail outlets. Over the years the amount of different sized packs of maltesers you can purchase has become quite extensive, from individual bags, boxes and grab bags. My last purchase was a 58.5g bag, which is the larger size individual bag from Wilkinson's and cost £0.75. I thought this was about the standard price but it is worth looking out for the supermarkets having the larger grab bags on special offer.
The maltesers come in the signature red packaging, the bag that I brought was made of a thin plastic which was easy to tear open with the jaggerd edge at each end. On the front of the bag there is 'maltesers' written in bubbly writing, pictures of the maltesers and also a little box in the corner which tells you how many calories is contained in the bad. On the back of the bag you can find nutritional information and ingredients listings.
Maltesers have always been marketed as a chocolaty option for people who are trying to watch what they eat with the slogan 'the lighter way to enjoy chocolate' having been used on various marketing campaigns. The 58.5g bag that I purchased contained the following nutritional information:
Calories - 187 kcal
Protein - 3.0g
Carbohydrate - 22.9g
Fat - 9.3g
I love the taste of maltesers they have a wonderful light, crunchy, malty centre which simply melts in your mouth. In fact one thing I love to do with maltesers is just to let them melt in my mouth so that they creamy mars milk chocolate melts and then the bubbly centre dissolves too. The creamy chocolate works perfectly with the crunchy centre to offer a complete contrast in textures that work perfectly together. The only problem with Maltesers is that they are very addictive and once I start eating them I find them hard to put down, especially with the grab bags which are very dangerous indeed and certainly defeats the point of the light way to enjoy chocolate!
Overall these little balls of malty, bubbly centres covered in milk chocolate are just bliss. I am sure that most people will have tried Maltesers but if you have not then you certainly should.
Summary: Wonderful little balls of lovliness!
