Advantages: selection, taste, flavour
Disadvantages: none for me!
One of my weaknesses when it comes to chocolate is Revels, with some sweets I can eat one of two and leave the rest for another time - with Revels this is impossible and I can easily finish a big bag in one sitting. Recently on offer in Tesco for 2 of the large 140 grams packs for £2.50 they found their way into my trolley and before I throw away my empty packet I thought I would write a review on them.
Garishly packaged in a Yellow, Orange and Brown bag the Revels name is splashed across the front of the bag, made by the Mars confectionary company the thing I like about these chocolates is that you don't know what you are going to eat until you start to chew. There are 6 different varieties of milk chocolate selections to choose from and each one is a treat in itself and I can happily say that there is not one that I don't actually enjoy.
For the purpose of a complete review I will list the selection that is included in the bag, suffice to say I love them all so no need to individually rate them. You get a good mix of hard and soft centres which are made up of:
Orange
Coffee
Raisin
Toffee
Malteaser
Solid Chocolate disc
If I had to choose an overall favourite the solid chocolate Revel would top my list and is the one that is easily identifiable therefore gets left to the end for me to enjoy all together - yum! The raisin being so small is also one that you know what it is before you eat it but the remaining ones you can't tell what is in the centre until they are in your mouth and you bite into them.
At one point there was a peanut Revel which was included in the mix, but that has now been dropped (all the good for me as that was one I was never keen on) presumably this was in light of all the potential consumers who had a nut allergy? By removing the peanut more people are able to enjoy these thus more revenue for Mars. The bag doesn't give any allergy warnings apart from pointing out that milk chocolate contains milk (!) and vegetable fats in addition to cocoa butter so these look to be a product that many people can indulge in.
Nutrition wise the pack advises that a 35 gram serving provides 168 calories, 22.3 grams of sugar, 7.4 grams of fat - of which 4.4 grams are saturates. This represents a quarter of the large bags contents so you know that multiplying those amounts by four that a whole bag isn't going to be good for anyone watching their weight or on a diet (whoops!)
Although I absolutely adore Revels I don't buy them on a regular basis as I know that I make a complete pig of myself when it comes to eating them. They are deliciously moreish and being a big kid I like the fact that you don't know what you are going to eat until you have bitten into one - a quick warning here, the toffee Revel is extremely hard so be careful if you have weak teeth; don't be too eager to bite into it thinking its Orange or Coffee centred, you may get quite a shock!
In conclusion you can tell from reading my review that I highly rate these, they are one of my favourite bagged variety of chocolates available and one that I always enjoy. For me they rate a perfect 5/5 dooyoo star rating and come highly recommended.
Thanks for reading my review.
