I love taking my children to the cinema, especially now we can watch in 3D! No visit would be complete without a bag of something chocolate, preferably revels! Mars revels have been around for as long as I can remember and bring back memories of my own childhood visits to the cinema. Mars have been producing chocolate since 1932, so they have along history and should know what they are doing by now!
Revels come in a variety of sized bags from the large 140 gram pouch to the single sized 35 gram bag. All can be easily spotted by the difference shades of orange stripes down the bag. We always buy a bag from the local supermarket if we are going to the cinema and it is much cheaper. Tesco are selling 140 gram pouches for £1.73 whilst a single 35 gram bag will cost you 49p.Revels are of course not a healthy option and eating a 35 gram bag whilst watching a film will give you 168 calories,7.3 grams of fat and a massive 22.3grams of sugar!
The thing I love best about Revels is that you really don't know which flavour centre you are going to get until you bite into it. For those who don't know Revels are assorted chocolates each with a different centre. In fact there are six centres including, orange, coffee, maltesers.toffee, raisin and chocolate. I love them all but my favourite has to be the orange centre. The orange is not too sweet and lovely and soft with a great orange taste. The coffee centre is probably my least favourite as I'm not really a fan of coffee flavours. However it has no bitter aftertaste and is pleasant enough. The toffee centre has lovely chewy caramel toffee that takes a bit longer to eat than the other centres. The maltesers is another great centre and really needs little introduction. The raisin centre with its plump juicy raisin coated in thick chocolate is very moreish! The flat shaped chocolate centre is a bit boring compared with the other centres and I would have preferred more orange centres!
The outer coating of chocolate is quite thick and creamy and I like to suck this away to reveal the surprise inside. You really do have to eat Revels one at a time otherwise you lose the unique flavour of the centre.
Overall I can highly recommend Revels; they are great to eat whilst watching the latest release at the cinema!
