Advantages: Even more great jaffa taste

Disadvantages: none

I absolutely love the amount of different cake bars on the market these days and McVities make some lovely ones. As I personally adore Jaffa Cakes and love cake bars, I can't think of much better than a Jaffa Cake Bar. Thank you McVities!

Jaffa Cake bars are available in a pack of 5 and cost £1.35. They come in the same distinctive deep blue packaging as everyday jaffa cakes and are packed in a cardboard tray. They are individually wrapped and always taste fresh when they are opened.

When I open my Jaffa Cake bar, the first thing I notice is the smell of yummy, dark chocolate and you can just make out the aroma of orange. These definitely make my mouth water and I can't wait for that first bite.

When you do bite into them, the chocolate 'cracks'. There is only a thin layer of chocolate, but it is enough for me, as it's quite strong and a little bitter. The orange layer in this is softer than the original jaffa cake and is more of a orangey spread, than a jelly. It does taste citrusy and full of flavour and goes well with the dark chocolate. The sponge is a lovely light golden colour and is soft and moist. The combination of flavours and textures is perfect. I find that one of these is just right for a snack, which leaves you satisfied, but not overly full.

One Jaffa Cake Bar contains:

Calories - 129
Sugar - 15.2g
Fat - 5.5g
Saturates - 2.8g
Salt - less than 0.1g

This product contains milk, egg, soya and gluten. It is free from trans fat and is suitable for vegetarians.

At the moment, these can be purchased for £1 in Tesco until the 16th of March.

Although I still prefer the original Jaffa Cakes, these do make a nice change and a lovely treat. They are great for pack lunch boxes and my kids always look forward to getting them.
