Advantages: Low in calories and fat
Disadvantages: Doesn't last long, bars should be bigger!
These cake bars are based on the original Jaffa cake (or Jaffa biscuit as some people would prefer to call it. There's been a long debate over the years as to the definition of a Jaffa cake as to whether it is a cake or a biscuit!). The Jaffa biscuits are not too bad for you from a calories/fat point of view and this is the same. In one of these cake bars there are 3.5g of fat and 94 calories. Means you can have two if you want!
The bars come in a vibrant blue and orange plastic wrapper nestled on a sheet of cardboard. If you're familiar with the Jaffa cake brand this is the exact same design on the packet. Inside the packet there are 5 individually wrapped cake bars. It is very easy to open the packets and get to the cake bars quickly!
As soon as you open the wrapper on the bar you can smell chocolatey/orangey loveliness permeating through the air. The smell is really strong and makes your mouth water (well mine anyway!). They are a rectangular shape and covered completely in dark chocolate. It is only a thin layer but really good tasting chocolate and a distinct taste when you eat it. The bar itself is sponge on the bottom, topped with a delicious gooey orange jam bit. The combination of the soft sponge, wet jam and crunchy chocolate gives a lovely taste in your mouth. I think they're very sweet but the jam does give a more bitter twist to it. They taste divine but are over far too quickly. Because they are quite soft I think they don't take as long to eat.
This is a delicious treat with not too many calories or fat so can be enjoyed by everyone without the guilt factor creeping in! At the moment these are on offer in Tescos as Buy one Get one Free but usually they retail at £1.30. They sell them in most supermarkets I've been to, including places like B&M Bargains.
Summary: Lovely chocolate and orange treat which tastes delicious and is low in calories and fat.
