McVitie's Jaffa Cake Bars
Advantages: Individually wrapped, lovely and tangy
Disadvantages: They are quite small
I recently received a coupon for a packet of Jaffa Cake Bars, I don't often buy cakes as I prefer to make my own but as I had the coupon I got some. I bought my Jaffa Cake Bars from my local Tesco where they would have cost me £1.30 had I not had the coupon.
The Cake bars are sold in a dark blue wrapper with Jaffa Cakes written across the front in orange writing. The front of the pack also informs the customer that these are made by McVities, contain no artificial colours or flavours and are the perfect blend of bittersweet dark chocolate, light sponge and zingy orange centre. The front of the pack also shows a picture of one of the cake bars and gives the GDA's which are given per cake bar.
The back of the pack gives all the usual information you would expect to find such as nutritional information and ingredients, they are written in very small writing but are there for those who wish to look.
On opening the wrapper the 5 cake bars are individually wrapped and are in a plastic tray. The wrappers around the bars are basically a repeat of the main wrapper.
Each cake bar is covered in dark chocolate which isn't that thick, there is a nice light sponge underneath which is sweet and sandwiched between this and the chocolate is a lovely orange layer which is slightly runnier than the orange bit in a traditional jaffa cake, however its really tasty and very tangy. Its obvious that its orange flavour. When eaten together the 3 flavours blend perfectly, the cake bars are sweet and tangy and at only 94 calories per bar there's no need to feel too guilty, if you can stop at just the one.
I really liked these little cake bars, they aren't very big and to be honest it would be easy to eat all 5 in virtually one go, but the orange is so tangy and together with the chocolate and sponge they are really tasty. I don't think I would buy them on a regular basis although they are ideal as quick snack or for lunch boxes. They are not bad value for money and the calories are not too horrendous either. If you like Jaffa Cakes then I'm sure you would like these, they are currently on offer in Tesco at 2 packets for £2.00.
Summary: A nice cake bar thats sweet and tangy
