Advantages: Daim buits :-D
Disadvantages: Not the nicest chocolate (but who cares..)
When it comes to trying something different it's usually great to try something that is "similar yet different" a combination of something you know you like and something else. Of course it can fail and be hugely disappointing disappointing at times, though it can also be brilliant. So when it came to the Milka Daim Chocolate Bar it was expected to be something special after all it was claiming to be "Daim" (formerly "Dime") related and Daim's were generally something special as far as the chocolate world was concerned. In fact Daims (which seem to forever be getting more difficult to find) are unique on the shop shelves due to their hard almond centre and their overall design (a flat bar that sees a solid almond "toffee" covered completely in milk chocolate), but how would "bits" of this in a whole new bar work?
Of course you then have the other part, the Milka chocolate bar which are generally quite a light and milky tasting chocolate which is rather nice but not on the level of Kinder. Although it's nice, many will be buying the bar on the fact it contains on the packaging the Diam logo and the mention of one of the popular classics of the chocolate bar world. The bar is sold in several sizes, the one I have is the 45g bar which contains 6 individual pieces in the bar, though the bar is sold in the much bigger family sized bar. Across the 6 pieces is what looks like a "wave" smoothly across the light brown of the chocolate.
Although the pieces look to be easy to snap apart they do put up a bit of a fight, as they do when you eat it. The hard almond parts of a Daim being instantly recognisable in both texture and taste which the chocolate is quickly forgotten in place of the almond. Although sharp, sweet and delightful almond is crunchy you can (if your patient) let the chocolate melt in your mouth and leave small almond bits that can after a while of being sucked, become quite chewy and enjoyable. The milk chocolate is accept on it's own though it genuinely is difficult to remember your eating a chocolate bar with Daim bits and it seems more and more like it's Daim bit's with chocolate, which is superb.
A brilliant concept fantastically done to show that you can take a fantastic part of a product and add it to something else to make a great product.
