Nestle Aero Bubbles Easter Egg
Advantages: Lovely chocolate and the bubbles were inside the egg
Disadvantages: The calories and fat content
As it was the weekend me and my husband decided to have a bit of a treat in the evening and opened another of our Easter Eggs that we had been bought by our families. We decided to give the Aero Bubbles Easter Egg a try, personally I love mint chocolate so was keen to have some of the Aero Bubble chocolates that came inside with the egg, I have always liked mint Aero chocolate bars but cannot remember trying the Aero Mint Bubbles so I was actually quite looking forward to trying this particular egg.
The Aero Bubbles egg came in a mint green coloured cardboard box which was wider at the bottom and narrowed towards the top. The Nestle logo appeared at the top of the box along with the words "Aero Bubbles", the majority of the box was covered in pictures of Aero Bubbles chocolates and balloons with a picture of the egg broken in half at the bottom of the box, this showed the Aero Bubbles inside the actual egg, sad as it is I was quite excited about this as when I was younger the sweets which came with your Easter Egg always came inside the actual egg and you had to break it to get them out, whereas now the chocolate bar or sweets come separate inside the box so to actually find an egg where the sweets were still kept inside it was a bit different. There is an egg shaped hole cut into the front of the box allowing you to see part of the egg inside, this seems to be the case with most Easter Eggs boxes. The back of the box contains all of the product information such as a description of the egg, the ingredients and all of the nutritional information, also on the back of the box is the recycling information for the packaging itself. All of this information is clearly set out and easy to read.
Inside the box you received a large milk chocolate, hollow egg made from Nestle chocolate, this comes wrapped in a gold coloured foil. When unwrapped, it had a slight pattern on the outside. The egg only needed a light tap to crack it in half where inside was a plain white packet containing the Aero Mint Bubbles, you only received one bag of these, a couple would have been nice, however you did get quite a few of the bubbles inside the bag. The chocolate that the egg was made from was of a reasonable thickness and basically the same as most standard Easter Eggs, the chocolate had a lovely creamy taste to it which we both found enjoyable. The Aero Bubbles were very similar to Aero chocolate bars other than the fact that they came in ball shapes rather than a bar. The bubbles were basically milk chocolate balls which when you bit into them contained a light green bubbly substance with a mint flavour, exactly the same as the Aero chocolate bars. I actually found these to be very tasty as I do really like the combination of mint and chocolate.
The nutritional information as I have said appears on the back of the box, the information is separated into two sections one for the hollow chocolate egg and the other for the Aero Mint Balls, this I found very handy as you knew exactly what you were eating.

I have to admit I do have a bit of a thing about checking the calories and fat content on products so when it came to the Aero Easter Egg this was no different. I wasn't really surprised at the calorie and fat content of the actual hollow egg, although it was slightly higher compared to other Easter Eggs we have had, these have been around the same amount for half of the egg where as with this egg it is only per quarter, but I guess different brands of chocolate are different. What I was most surprised about was the Aero Bubbles, I really thought they would be lower in calories especially due to the bubbly inside, however the one small bag you received inside the egg there were nearly 200 calories and you really do not get that many bubbles in a bag. Whilst they were very enjoyable as a treat they are not something I would eat on a regular basis due to the high calorie content.
Price & Availability
Obviously we received this egg as a gift so did not buy it ourselves, however I actually purchased the same egg as a gift for someone else. I know that this particular egg is available in most supermarkets, when I bought mine I purchased it from my local Tesco, a couple of weeks before Easter the egg was being sold for £2.97, however a week later the same egg was being sold for nearly £6.00. When the egg was £2.97 I thought this was a good price for it, however when the price went up I would definitely say that it was over priced, for nearly £6.00 you really do not get a massive a amount of chocolate and I do think that is far to much to pay for one hollow chocolate egg and one bag of Aero bubbles.
Overall I would recommend the Aero Bubbles Easter Egg, the Nestle chocolate is of an excellent quality and has a lovely creamy taste and texture to it. Personally I really enjoyed the Aero bubbles as I love mint chocolate, however it is a shame that you do not get more than one bag of these with the egg. With this particular Easter Egg I liked the way that the Aero Bubbles came inside the main hollow chocolate egg as this is how they used to be when I was a child and most eggs now have the sweets or chocolate bars separate inside the box rather than inside the egg so this was also an added bonus with this egg. For me the only down side would be the calories and fat content of the chocolate but as a treat at the weekend I can over look that, the only other disadvantage would be the high price it was sold for just before Easter, but again I cannot really complain about this as I managed to get mine before the price went up and the egg we had was one we received as a gift. Overall I would definitely recommend the Aero Bubbles Easter Egg, especially if like me you are a fan of mint chocolate.
Summary: A nice treat
