NestlÚ Aero Bubbles
Advantages: Delicious, Nice smooth/bubbly/light texture
Disadvantages: Calorific and addictive!
I am a member of BzzAgent, which is a website that matches you up with certain products and sends you them in the post to try out at home. The latest (and my most favourite!) product which I have been trying out is Nestle Aero Bubbles.
Nestle Aero Bubbles come in 2 different flavours - mint and orange. I haven't tried the orange version, so will be basing this review on the mint version. They come in large 135g bags or smaller standard sized bags. I have been trying out the standard sized bags, which is just as well (where my waistline is concerned) because I find them extremely addictive indeed! The green packaging is bright and attractive. They certainly stand out on shop shelves and you can tell right away that they're an Aero product. The bags are made of foil, which ensures that the chocolate inside stays fresh.
The bubbles are round and look like balls. They are about the same size as Malteasers (so just about the perfect size to pop in your mouth!) and are completely smooth. They are half green coloured (mint) and half brown coloured (chocolate). They're quite fun and different looking. As soon as you open the bag you are hit with the minty smell.
When you bite in to the chocolate you'll notice that there's not actually any milk chocolate inside, it's all mint, aside from the milk chocolate on the outside. These little bubbles aren't chocolate with a hint of mint, they are mint with a hint of chocolate! If you like mint/chocolate infusions, you are guaranteed to love Aero Bubbles. They have a wonderful texture too (just like regular Aero chocolate). They are light and bubbly inside. They are silky smooth to bite through and melt in your mouth within seconds. I am quite fond of trying to melt them in my mouth without chewing them! I find that the bubbly texture makes these little treats feel quite light, whereas a lot of chocolatey treats are quite heavy and make me feel quite quilty during and afterwards! No guilt here! As much as I like bars of chocolate, I do think that packs of individual chocolates make a better treat. I tend to scoff chocolate bars down, maybe because I know it will melt in my hand or maybe because it's just there! I find that individual chocolates allow me to take my time, savor and enjoy my treats more. I love Aero Bubbles with a cup of tea, plus they're easy to eat out and about. There's a generous amount of Bubbles per pack (which is pretty rare these days) and I find that I'm usually full by the end of the bag (the become quite sickly towards the end). I'd say the only downside is that they're not great for your health (195 calories per standard sized pack) and as I've already mentioned, they're really addictive - I find it impossible to just eat one or two! The top three ingredients consist of sugar, milk chocolate and vegetable fat. As long as you're sensible and eat Aero Bubbles as a treat and not every day, then I'm sure you'll be fine!
Overall I love the taste and texture of Aero Bubbles. I am very likely to purchase them and am happy to recommend them to others. Aero Bubbles are available at all good supermarkets etc. Small bags cost around the 60p mark and larger (share size) bags cost around the ú1.50 mark.
Summary: The perfect treat.
