Nestlé Aero Bubbles
Advantages: Nice texture, light and fluffy, melt in mouth, refreshing
Disadvantages: Not enough of a chocolate hit for me
As a Bzz Agent, I am regularly sent products to try in return for sharing my opinion on them. I was very pleased to be selected for their recent campaign for Aero, and it was a happy day when I received six packs of Aero Peppermint Bubbles in the post to try out!
The packaging for these is very similar to the packaging for the likes of Maltesers or M&Ms. Basically, they come loosely packaged in a little pouch which just rips open. This makes them ideal for sharing, although you could easily get through a packet by yourself. The chocolates themselves look different to what I was expecting, as I thought they would be minty on the inside and chocolate on the outside. However, these were minty on the inside, and also half covered in green mint chocolate on the outside. This made them very much fall into the 'mint' category, rather than getting a chocolate fix.
The size of the chocolates is similar to Maltesers, and they just fit in the mouth perfectly. I'm impatient when it comes to food, so I tend to chew these rather than sucking them, although I'm sure everyone is different in this respect. I really love the texture of Aero chocolate, and these are no exception being light and fluffy, and just melting in the mouth. The only downside for me was that I felt the mint element overpowered the chocolate, so I didn't really feel I was getting the chocolate hit I hoped for. For this reason, I think I would prefer a traditional Aero bar, because at least with those the bar is covered in chocolate, whereas with the bubbles it is mainly mint with a tiny bit of chocolate which is barely noticeable. They do leave a nice taste in your mouth though, and are a bit of a refreshing blast to your sinuses!
I wouldn't go out of my way to buy these, I have to admit. Although I like Aero chocolate, these were a bit disappointing for the reasons mentioned above. They are very light, which could be a good or bad thing because I think it would be easy to find yourself eating far more than you should without feeling guilty! They are available in standard sized or sharing bags, and the standard sized bags cost around 60-70p in supermarkets and such like. They are also available in an orange flavour, but I have not yet tried these.
