Nestle Kit Kat Chunky
Advantages: Tasty, Smooth, Creamy, From UK's leading brand - Kit Kat
Disadvantages: Bad for you
The Kit Kat brand is the best selling chocolate brand in the UK. In 2004, sales amounted to more than £170,000,000 (yup, 170 million pounds). The Kit Kat Chunky, also known as the 'Big Finger' was launched in 1999, with great success. In 2005, 73 million Kit Kat Chunky were sold, averaging out at around 200,000 a day! That's one heck of a lot of chocolate!
As well as the standard 50g Kit Kat chunky that is the standard size, you can also buy Kit Kat mini versions, a snack size version and a king size version called Big Breaks - originating from Nestlé's slogan 'have a break'. You can also now buy the newer peanut version, which isn't recommended by me as it kind of ruins the flavour. However, if you are into nuts, then you would be nutty not to try it! I will be basing my review on the standard 50g Kit Kat Chunky.
The Packaging is simple and quite basic. It has a background red colour with the KitKat logo on the front in an oval shape with a white background, to give the red letters some contrast to make them stand out. The oval is even surrounded with a shiny silver line to make them sparkle on the shop shelf. The Nestlé logo is beside the logo, and it is also clearly stated that it is the Chunky version. The weight is indicated on the front too as 50g. The packet is made of a light, thin foil to insulate it well so it can keep cool if refrigerated. I have never bought a Kit Kat Chunky that has had anything wrong with it - they have always been to high quality. Flipping over the bar, you have all the nutritional information and ingredients as well have the best before date and extra information. The Bar itself is trapezium shaped. It has a ridge at the bottom to make it look somewhat more exquisite, but the taste is all we care about, not the look. The Kit Kat logo is etched into the bar itself, in case you forget what you are eating.
So let's get straight to the taste. I never used to be such a fan of this chocolate bar, but they really are lovely. They have a very smooth taste to them of luscious chocolate. They have a slight crispy biscuit inside them, which is only a small amount but it makes them unique and adds to the texture and flavour. They are very chocolaty as you could imagine, but are addicting. Once you have one bite, you can't wait to have the next! They are made with milk chocolate too. You can try dipping them in tea or coffee, which is quite nice too as it adds to the flavour, but don't drop it in like I did once! Tastes like any chocolate bar, but nice quality with smooth creamy chocolate rather than chocolate with a hard plastic feel to it. The crispy biscuit substance inside adds to give it a lovely texture and improves the taste.

Comparing the nutritional information of the standard size 50g bar to an Adult's guideline daily amount, they aren't too bad. I wouldn't recommend eating these everyday though. Perhaps one bar a week as a treat is satisfactory, because they aren't good for you, like any chocolate.
They are available for around 40 pence in your average confectionary shop. You can't miss them on the shelf, as they are bright red with a big logo. You will find them next to all the other Kit Kat bars, unless the shop manager is retarded enough to have them by the loo rolls! I would defiantly recommend this bar to anyone who is a lover of chocolate, if you haven't tried one already! They are delicious and a good snack, which fills you up and keeps you going through the day, but don't live off chocolate as it really is bad for you. The sugar rots your teeth, the fat is in excess if you have chocolate constantly and they don't have goodness in them whatsoever really.
