Advantages: delicious!!

Disadvantages: high in fat and calories!

Great news for peanut butter lovers - Peanut Butter Kit Kat Chunky is the winner of the 'choose your chunky champion' promotion in which Nestle released 4 different flavours of Kit Kat chunky (double chocolate, white chocolate, orange and peanut butter) and got the public to vote for their favourite which would remain in the shops. Peanut Butter flavour was available a few years ago for a while, but didn't stay around for very long and now it's back and improved.

I'm very happy peanut butter won as it is my favourite chocolate bar! I would have been gutted if it was only limited edition, but luckily it is here to stay, although it still seems to be a bit elusive in the shops. So far the only two retailers I've managed to find it in are Spar and Boots, but maybe my local supermarkets are just catching up.

The wrapper is golden yellow like the colour of peanut butter and if you look closely it's actually printed as if it was peanut butter that has been spread onto it. The actual chocolate bar is a wafer finger topped with a thick layer of peanut butter and covered in thick milk chocolate. It's not got as much crunch as the usual kit Kat chunkys because the peanut butter is soft; I quite like this because I find the standard chunkys a bit too dry and the mixture of textures from chocolate, peanut butter and wafer is really great. There isn't actually any peanut butter in the ingredients; it's actually called 'creamed peanut' which I imagine is sweeter than the peanut butter you buy in jars. I really like all peanut butter flavoured things which may be why I like this chocolate bar so much, but it's not a really intense peanut flavour so if you're on the fence with peanut butter I'd still recommend trying the Kit Kat Chunky version because I think the texture is the best thing about it rather than the flavour.

At 260 calories (13% GDA) and 15.2g fat (22% GDA) these are one of the worst chocolate bars if you're on a diet (most chocolate bars are around the 200 calories and 10g of fat I've found) and although it's not a disadvantage as such, it means they're not something I will eat every day. Having said that, I have found myself buying them whenever I see them which recently has been 3 or 4 times a week!

I pay 62p per bar at my local Spar, but this will vary depending on where you go. It's well worth giving them a try if you like peanut butter.

Summary: very glad it is here to stay
