Nestle Milky Bar
Advantages: taste, price
Disadvantages: bar a bit small, but larger ones are available
I have in previous reviews mentioned that I don't consider myself to be a chocoholic, I like it, don't get me wrong but unless I really fancy a bar of something I tend to stick to savoury snacks if I find myself peckish in between meals. At the moment Milky Bar buttons are on offer in Tesco in the hanging bags but not wanting to over indulge but fancying a bit of white chocolate after spotting them I settled on having a good, old fashioned Milky Bar instead.
My bar is only little, bless it, and cost 28 pence and I was quite impressed with myself for not wanting to get one of the larger bars, and even though its only small it packs a resonable amount of calories though containing 137 of them and 7.9g of fat.
Packaged similar to pictured above but still instantly recognisible, once the wrapper is removed you get the unmistakable smell of white chocolate rising up to your nose, the chocolate always seems to be on the flimsy side and melts very easily and taking a first nibble you are met with the sweet taste of milk and cream. Even though this is only a small bar I found that it was the perfect size to satisfy a chocolate craving and I always do find white chocolate to be a lot sweeter than regular brown milk chocolate.
Indeed, looking at the list of ingredients you can see that the majority of its contents are either milk or dried milk; "Milkybar White Chocolate from all Natural Ingredients contains Dried Whole Cows' Milk (26%), and Vegetable Fat in addition to Cocoa Butter, Natural Ingredients:, Sugar, Whole Cows' Milk (that's been dried), Cocoa Butter (made from Cocoa Beans), Whey Powder (from Milk), Vegetable Fat (from Tropical Plants), Emulsifier Lecithin (made from Soya Beans & holds the ingredients together), Natural Flavouring" so no wonder it always tastes so milky!
This one little bar only represents 8% of a child's calorie GDA so seems a nice size as a treat for children and clearly this is the market it is aimed at, and at only 28p it's cheap enough for anyone to enjoy really.
Not a size bar I would recommend for serious chocoholics, after two bites it is gone and you are left with the lovely after taste of white chocolate and a desire for more, but to beat off a craving and not worry too much about the calories it made a nice change from regular chocolate.
I would have no problems in recommending this to anyone and so for that reason I would give it 4/5 Dooyoo stars only losing a star for the smallness of the bar, but I could have got a bigger one if I had wanted to so not really Nestlé's fault.
Summary: a treatsize bar with plenty of flavour.
