Nestle Rolo Dessert
Advantages: Fab flavours
Disadvantages: Too rich
I was listening to the radio while driving into town today and a listener was ringing into the radio show. He mentioned that he had been eating a Nestle Rolo Dessert and kept banging on about how yummy they were. My husband is currently out of the country on business and when he does go away on trips like this I tend to turn into a bit of a slobby teenager. I don't bother to cook myself proper meals and instead when the kids are tucked up in bed, I tuck into things like pizza and watch rubbish on the television.
Later that evening when I had watched a suitable amount of trashy tv and done my online Tesco shop, I dedcided to reward myself with a trip to the fridge. I peeled back the lid of the shallow pot and was greet by a very inviting sight. The dessert looked incredibly indulgent and terribly naughty. There was a blob of caramel coloured smooth toffee which was surrounded by a velvety smooth chocolate dessert. From the first spoonful it was clear that this pudding was going to be incredibly rich.
While the dessert was very smooth, it was also quite heavy in the the mouth. The flavour of the chocolate was really sweet and intense and it was complemented beautifully by the flavour of the toffee. Like the rolo sweets, the combination of the two flavours works really well and the end result is a dessert which feels like a real treat.
I did finish off the pot.... of course but it was very filling and actually did leave me feeling a little sickly. I did enjoy the dessert and will definately finish the other pot before my husband comes back but I probably wouldn't buy these again, simply because they are so incredibly rich.
Today I was feeling particularly self-indulgent and decided to treat myself to pudding as well. I had a quick look at the chilled section of the supermarket and the seed that was planted earlier on in the day jumped out at me..... I spotted a twin pack of the Nestle Rolo Dessert costing a quite reasonable 99p. My weak nature prevailed and into the basket they had to go.
