Nestle Rolo Dessert
Advantages: nice flavour at first, smells lovely
Disadvantages: gets sickly, very bad for you
I walked to the corner shop yesterday to get flour for pancakes and I really fancied something sweet so I picked up a pack of 2 Nestle Rolo Dessert as I always used to love Rolo's as a child. I read a review on them a couple of weeks ago and they sounded heavenly so I put them in my basket and a naughty sweet treat later that night.
Price: These are about £1 for a box of 2 desserts, which at 50p each of course is quite expensive for a chocolate mousse/ chocolate dessert type thing. However, Cadbury's chocolate desserts are 65p for one so Nestle desserts don't work out as such bad value, however the pots aren't that big and I'd prefer a pot of plain chocolate mousse after tying these.
Packaging: There's 2x77g pots of Rolo Dessert attached together and covered by a cardboard sleve. This has the Nestle logo in the top left hand corner and the big red Rolo logo at and angle across the middle with swirls of chocolate and toffee all over. There's also the usual nutritional information and best before, I did notice that the pots are only quite small and shallow.
Inside the Pot: After peeling the lid off this dessert looks really nice, the chocolate is very glossy with a big blob of toffee in the middle under the top layer of chocolate, I couldn't wait to dig in. It smells very chocolatey, but high quality chocolate not the cheap sort you often find in this sort of chocolate dessert. Like I said before the pot is quite small and it isn't full when you open it up inside, so a little disappointing for the price.
Taste: After putting in my spoon the dessert feels quite like and after putting it in my mouth I realised it was quite heavy, all that toffee sauce is abit too much. After my second mouthful I was really feeling bad for eating it, you can just taste the calories! The dessert is nice and smooth though but was just abit sickly for me and I couldn't finish the pot, however my mum had one and couldn't get enough of it so maybe it was just me.
Sat Fat: 6.8g
Obviously this containt milk and may contain nuts.
Overall: It's quite expensive for how much you get and very bad nutritional especially the sugar content. It's only good if you really don't mind indulging yourself and I personally found it abit sickly to eat the whole pot but people with a really sweet tooth would love these. The chocolate is really nice quality and the taste is really smooth however it does feel abit heavy in your mouth. Not for me but a lot of other people I know absolutely love these and if I had more of a sweet tooth I would too!
