Advantages: Readily available, delicious sweets...

Disadvantages: None for me!

I have quite an incredible sweet tooth and regularly buy chocolate and sweets, both of which I adore. One chocolate that I had not purchased for quite some time was a packet of 'Rolos' which are made by the well known manufacturer, Nestle. When I was in a local branch of Poundland recently, I noticed that they had a multi-pack containing three individual packs of these sweets on sale for, funnily enough £1, and I immediately snapped them up.

The Rolos are quite unique in their design I think... certainly, I have never come across another sweet or chocolate that even looks similar. Each Rolo is a circular shape, and has a flat base so they stand up easily on their own. The sides of the milk chocolate Rolos taper slightly until it reaches the top, which has a little circular design on it.

The outside of the Rolo is essentially a 'shell' as the gorgeous milk chocolate is holding onto the most gorgeous smooth caramel centre. The combination of sweet and smooth caramel with the milky taste of the milk chocolate is a winning one, in my opinion.

It is not difficult to tell that the Nestle Rolos are a sweets of a very high quality. The milk chocolate is smooth and quite creamy in its consistency and is deliciously sweet without being over-bearing or at all sickly.

In addition, the delicious, smooth caramel centre of these particular sweets is anything but sickly, nor does it have the unpleasant, rather bitter after taste that similar sweets from more 'budget' brands have all to often. In actual fact, I find that the caramel centre is just right, in terms of flavour as well as consistency. I don't find that the caramel is overly runny, nor does it spill out of the chocolate shell as soon as you open the outer package.

I find that the caramel compliments the milk chocolate perfectly, without taking anything from the taste of the chocolate itself. Furthermore, I find that the sweets are very moreish and I find it quite difficult to stop eating the sweets whilst half-way through the pack! Be warned.. this particular sweetie is difficult to resist!

All in all, I think that the Nestle Rolos are really gorgeous sweets and I have taken quite a shine to them in recent times. This is a tad unfortunate for my waist line, given that these particular sweets contain (per 100g) 478 Kcal and 20.3g fat. This nutritional information can be deducted by 50% to get the relevant information for one pack of Rolos, given that each tube or pack is only 52g in size.

I can see that the Nestle Rolos contain nothing in the way of artificial colours, flavours or preservatives. There is nothing on the packet to suggest whether they are suitable for a vegetarian diet, but I can see that relevant allergy advice is listed to allow consumers to make an informed choice.

The Nestle Rolos are widely available from all good grocery stores and newsagents, as well as supermarkets such as Tesco and Asda. The multi-pack that I purchased (which contains three individual packets of Rolos) cost me £1 from my local branch of Poundland. There is a larger multi-pack available (containing five packets of Rolos) and the cost for this is around £1.80, from supermarkets such as Asda. You can expect to pay around 70 pence for an individual pack of the sweets.

Summary: Delicious sweets from Nestle.
