Nestle Toffee Crisp
Advantages: Tastes lovely and just as good as i remembered!
Disadvantages: It's fattening - damn!
Yesterday I had a real fancy for something sweet. I know my blood sugar is higher than it should be and my weight is definitely an issue but it was just one of those things - I needed something sweet!
I went to our local Costcutter / Post Office to take my latest batch of EBay sales to be posted and the temptation just got too much and I treated myself to a Toffee Crisp, which cost me 45p. I hadn't had one for years - would it be as good as I remembered?
This will be posted on Ciao in the fullness of time.
I took my naughty purchase home and decided to resist eating it until after my tea and believe me that was a real test of willpower I can tell you!
So after tea I settled down on the sofa with my Toffee Crisp.
The wrapper was just the same as I remembered it - bright orange with the words Toffee Crisp written across it in yellow letters together with the words 'Crispy Crunch, Chewy Munch'.
I peeled open the wrapper to be greeted with the familiar fragrance of chocolate and an unmistakable Toffee Crisp smell. I can't begin to explain what I mean by that but if someone had blindfolded me and given me the bar to smell I would have known it was Toffee Crisp. It smelled just the same as it always had.
I bit off the end and, yes, it was just as good as ever!
Although Nestle chocolate is not actually my favourite, Cadburys Dairy Milk fills that spot, it works on Toffee Crisp. I suppose this is because it has always been thus and any other chocolate just wouldn't taste right.
The mouthful of Toffee Crisp was crunchy with crisped cereal and chewy with toffee and absolutely delicious! I munched my way through the whole bar enjoying every wonderful mouthful, and I am pleased to announce that my craving for something sweet was satisfied.
After I had finished I decided to take a look at the nutritional values on the wrapper. I didn't need to know ho many calories it contained before I ate it, that would have just spoiled my enjoyment wouldn't it?
The bar contained 228 calories which I am informed by the writing on the wrapper is 11% of my daily calorie intake. There is also 1.7g of protein, 27.4g of carbohydrate and 12.4g of fat.
Should you need to contact Nestle you can do so for free on 0800 604 604 or www.nestle.co.uk. The address if you want to write to them is P O Box 23, York. There is a postcode on the back of the wrapper at the end of the address but it is so small that even wearing my glasses, using a magnifying glass and sitting directly under a bright light I cannot read it!
In conclusion I would say that's the best 45p I've spent for a long time. Mind you I don't know what my late grandmother would say to me paying 9 shilling for a bar of chocolate!
Summary: It was just what I needed.
