Advantages: Tastes great and looks unusual
Disadvantages: Really high in saturated fat
I hadn't had a Walnut Whip for years until yesterday when I spotted a 3 pack at the checkout and decided to buy one.
It is made up of a thick cone of milk chocolate - it looks like it's been piped out like the way you get mashed potatoes in a restaurant or like Mr Whippy ice cream! The chocolate is quite thick so it takes a bit of biting to get it to break open. The cone is topped with a walnut and is filled with vanilla fondant cream. I would say it's not like a fondant creme as you would get in a creme egg, it has a texture similar to artificial cream that has went a little stiff and is almost foam like if that makes sense. Very light like a mousse almost.
While these are really delicious, I did get a bit of a shock at the saturated fat content. Each one contains a whopping 25% of your daily allowance! I think that is quite high for the size of it. If you only look at the calories you could be forgiven for thinking these were a not-so-unhealthy treat as they only contain 9% (174kcal) of your RDA of calories. I am not a calorie counter but I do like to watch the saturated fat and these contain too much in my opinion.
So, all in all I would recommend this chocolate but just don't eat too many (which is hard as they're only small!).
Summary: If you like walnuts you have to try these
