After Christmas I wanted to lose half a stone and so I used Slim Fast to help me lose some weight. I combined the milkshakes twice a day with snacks twice a day and a healthy dinner in the evening. This worked very well for me and in just three weeks I lost half a stone. I have since maintained this weight loss for a couple of months and have been very pleased with the Slim Fast plan.
I purchased these Slim Fast bars from Boots and while they were 60p normally they was a special offer at the time and I believe I saved 20% off the full price of all my Slim Fast products. I have since seen these for sale at full price for just 49p in Sainsburys so I know where to go in the future if there are no special offers on!
This bars look like any other chocolate bar really and they are adorned with the Slim Fast information. I kept my bars in the cupboard as I put one in the fridge when I first purchased them and when I tried to eat it I almost broke my tooth because they were so hard! I also found that one bar melted when I left it in a tub on the side near a heater at work even though it wasn't very close!
Each bar contains 95 calories, 2.5g of fat (1.5 of which saturates) & 16g of carbohydrates (of which 12g sugars).
I must say that the calories in these bar do not reflect the wonderful taste of these bars! These bars are absolutely delicious. They have milk chocolate that is delicious and smooth and the caramel is wonderfully sweet and this bar tastes quite luxurious. There is a nice chew to this bar too and I definitely prefer their chewiness fresh from the cupboard than from the fridge.
These were fantastic for the days when I wanted a chocolate fix. If I have been craving a chocolate bar while in the supermarket since this Slim Fast plan I have purchased these bars and been very satisfied by the time I have finished eating them.
Overall I would definitely recommend these Slim Fast bars. The price is reasonable for a chocolate bar anyway and I love knowing that these are far healthier than what I would normally pick up.
As regular readers of my reviews will be aware by now, I have been on a health kick since the New Year in a bid to get fit and lose weight. To date I have lost just over one stone and I actually do feel better though as I am a large bloke I don't think it's beginning to show just yet.
I have been trying to lose weight the good old fashioned way of eating less and moving more but lately the weight loss appears to have tailed off a bit and it's getting lower and slower for the pounds to drop off. I have been trying the Slim Fast Shakes and now I have also been buying the Chocolate caramel Snack Bars too. I first caught site of these while waiting to pay for some headache tablets in Superdrug. The sign said they were on special offer of 35p as opposed to 58p. Personally, I wouldn't pay 58p for one of these as I think that is grossly overpriced for what I essentially a tiny two bite sized chocolate caramel bar.
I bought it and ate it as soon as I'd left the shop and was walking back to my car. I have to say mind you, I was impressed with both the taste and texture of these bars. They are really chocolaty and if I hadn't known any different I wouldn't have possibly guessed I was eating a 'diet' chocolate bar.
Later that week I went back and bought some more (about ten to be exact) and kept them in the fridge. Here's a word of warning though, folks. Do NOT keep these bars in the fridge (or anywhere cold, for that matter) - not unless you don't want to keep your own teeth, that is!
When these bars come straight from a fridge they have the consistency of concrete. If kept at room temperature they are delicious and chewy and the perfect consistency. Once in a fridge for a few hours they turn into a weapon of oral mass destruction. They are SO hard you just cannot get your bite. Then once you do, all you feel is an earth shattering crunch as you rush to the mirror to check all your teeth are still in place.
At the right temperature, however, these are perfect diet chocolate bars and they certainly satisfy my chocolate cravings. They only have 95 calories per bar. Okay, so they aren't very big, but they are very tasty.
Very much recommended for the dieters out there like me who just need a chocolate fix.
I've been doing the Slimfast diet for a few weeks now and yesterday as a snack option had the caramel bars.
I was in Wilkinson's and they were on offer at 31p reduced from 52p. I honestly expected it to be tasteless and horrid but I was nicely surprised.
The NI of this product is amazing if you compare it to a similar full fat chocolate bar. It may have reduced calories, sugar & fat but hasn't lost its taste at all the bar itself is tasty the caramel makes up the main proportion of the bar with a think coating of chocolate. The caramel is chewy (if eaten from the fridge) and the chocolate is milky and sweet in taste.
It's not particularly small either approx. 4cm thick and 12cm long.
They normally sell for about 50p each (48p at Tesco). I have looked around for a pack of them but it appears you can only purchase them individually which probably isn't a bad thing because if they were in my house I would probably eat them all!!
I would recommend these if you're on the Slimfast plan and in need of a chocolate fix.

On a recent walk around town I popped into Wilkonson's and saw the following Slimfast snack bar on offer at 31p a bar reduced from 51p. As I was currently on a mission to loose some weight before going on holiday I picked up the bar as a quick snack that was low in calories and that hopefully would curb my cravings for chocolate and "treats"! I wasn't dissapointed at all by the product!
I have tried the shakes that slimfast are especially known for and regulary have one for my breakfast in an attempt to control my calorie intake, so I was looking forward to trying this snack bar by the same company. The chocolate and caramel bar contains 95 calories which I think personally is very good considering the quality and taste of the product. Unlike other "diet" products I could not tell the difference between this chocolate bar and one that you would buy off the shelves at a newsagents. Therefore, it can give you that hit of chocolate that you may be craving without the big hit of associated calories!
The bar comes in an orange plastic wrapper with the brand name Slimfast written in white across the front as well as a picture of the snack bar and a description of Slimfast's "eating plan" which you may be following. This basically consists of eating three snacks a day (this can include the snack bar being discussed), two slimfast meals such as a shake and one sensible meal of your choice at approxiamtely 600 calories. I personally am not following this plan, but find that the slimfast snack bar is a useful addition to my own calorie controlled diet.
This snack bar consists of soft nougat and caramel coated in milk chocolate. To taste it is very soft and slightly chewy with the caramel and chocolate melting in the mouth. Very tasty and definately worth a try!
Ingredients are as follows:
Milk chocolate (22%)
Cocoa powder (3%)
Cocoa Mass (2%)
Nutritional Information (per snack bar):
Of which sugars= 12g
of which saturates- 1.5g
I would reccommend this product and at only 95 calories you can't really go wrong!

I started the Slimfast diet only today but Ive already got around trying one of their snack bars. On the slimfast plan you get 2 Slimfast milkshakes (as meal replacements), 1 proper meal and 3 snacks. But the snacks are obviously not a bag of crisps but a range of snacks both ones you buy anywhere (eg fruit, nuts & homous) and ones from the Slimfast range. I decided to try this "Chocolate & Caramel Bar" earlier today with my milkshake at lunch because I was hoping it would fill me up until my main meal tonight. I wasnt even expecting it to taste nice in all honesty but I am totally surprised because it is proper yummy!
So lets face it this chocolate bar is actually really good for you when you consider how much higher those values would be for a bar of "real" chocolate. In a lot of cases though (I find anyway) when companys take out all the calories, sugar & fat out of a product the taste often goes with it. Im happy to say this wasnt the case with this bar.
Now as this is a diet product it is quite a small bar but not as small as I expected it to be at all. The taste is so nice I reckon it makes up for the bar being so small! I read that people compare this to a mars bar but under 100 calories and I have to say I think that is spot on. This has everything you would find in a Mars bar, the nougat, the caramel and the chocolate (which is obviously the best bit!) If anything I find this is actually a bit nicer than a Mars bar because it isnt as stodgy and the chocolate isnt as rich which I think I prefer.
Ive only been on the plan one day and this definately satisfied my chocolate craving and its filled me up so far for about 4 hours so its not too bad. For a little bar this is absolutely packed with flavour and it actually tastes very sweet - I cant believe this bar is good for you! I fully recommend it to everyone whether you on the Slimfast diet or not because it is a great chocolate substitute and one Ill definately be eating again.
One bar of this product will cost you about 59p which I think is more than most chocolate bars but just think of the calories your saving. Also I think you can get these in multipacks so it may be worth keeping an eye out for.

Yep, another Slim Fast review. On my quest for that perfect figure I'm munching my was through the range!!
This really seems to good to be true, not only can you drink milkshakes all the time but you can have chocolate as well!
This Slim Fast plan in addition to two shakes or meal bars for breakfast and lunch and your usual evening meal, also allows up two three snacks a day, these should be under 100 calories and they suggest fruit or veg or Slim Fast snacks.
Browsing the Slim Fast snacks in Boots, I came across the Chocolate Caramel Treat bar. The 26g bar is small... but it's chocolate!
The bar I'd compare to the size of a treat size Mars. I guess, in design it's like a diet Mars bar too. Nougat topped with caramel and coated in milk chocolate. Taste wise it's pretty tasty, not as rich as a Mars as you'd expect but it satisfied my chocolate craving.
The bar comes in at 95 calories and 2.5g fat. So, even if not on the slim Fast plan, it's a good chocolate fix for not too many calories.
Overall, I'd recommend this little bar.. at 59p it's a little on the pricey side for the size but you are paying for the piece of mind you are 'allowed' to eat it I suppose. I congratulate Slim Fast for giving us tasty treats we can eat whilst slimming... everyone knows most women would actually die if the were denied chocolate for two weeks!
It remains to be seen if the Slim Fast plan helps me to lose some weight but I'm certainly enjoying trying!!
I started the Slim Fast eating plan four weeks ago and the first two weeks went great, after the three initial days of hunger! Week three was really hard and this week, week four, I have completely fallen of the Slim Fast wagon. Nipping into Tesco today I noticed the Slim Fast snacks were on offer at 3 for £1 so though I would try them out.
The 26g Chocolate Caramel bars contain 99 calories.
The bars themselves at a lot similar to a mars bar, but slimmer, thinner, shorter and not as indulgent. They do taste good, very chocolate with a soft nougat and caramel filling but it is obvious that they are not 'real' I read a previous review on this product which mentions something along the lines of them being like half a mars bar and I do have to agree. A similar flavour but no where near as much bite.
I will probably get some more of these while they are on offer so that I have something to keep in my bag to snack on for those times when I get an urge for chocolate. I think they are a fairly reasonable price while on 3 for £1 and I had previously avoiding looking at the Slim Fast range of snacks because of the prices (around 38p - 50p).
As part of the ongoing quest to loose some weight I have been sampling the snacks made by Slimfast. Each one of the snacks has less than 100 calories making them the ideal choice if you just need to have a nibble.
I get cravings for chocolate, (especially around *that* time of the month), and so I thought I would try this to see if it would indeed satisfy those cravings.
The Slimfast Caramel bars are like squished Mars bars. They have nougat, caramel and chocolate but they are a lot smaller, a lot thinner and somehow more dense. They taste similar to a Mars bar but a lot sweeter, (which is saying something as I find Mars Bars sweet enough), and it is a strange sweetness that hangs around for ages after eating. As I have mentioned they are very dense which makes them very chewy and claggy in your mouth, inevitably coating the top of your mouth with goo.
The bars go soft very quickly at room temperature but if you refrigerate them they go rock hard and are unbearably chewy so I don't really know where to store them to keep them at the right temperature.
The packaging is distinctively Slimfast being white and red and featuring the logo of the company. There is one of those helpful bars that tell you the amount of sugar, calories, fat etc on the front too.
Don't be fooled into thinking that low calorie means healthy, it really doesn't and these bars prove it as they contain only 99 calories but also 18.1g of Carbohydrates of which 13.6g is from Sugars and 3.2g of Fat with 1.8g of that being saturated. It may be better than a Mars Bar but it is fraction of the size, (26g), and for such a small bar it's actually a lot.
The 'chocolate' is actually chocolate coating too which as most of you will agree is a poor substitute for the real thing but who expects all the flavour of the real thing with only 99 calories?
All in all these aren't bad but they're not good either and at 38p each they don't represent good value in my opinion. I think I'll stick to the Heroes or Celebrations as a quick chocolaty fix, much smaller but so much more satisfying.
~*~ Slimfast Chocolate Caramel Bar ~*~
As I have mentioned in previous reviews, my body has recently decided that I have had long enough of being able to eat kilograms of chocolate without piling on the pounds, and I have therefore unfortunately had to change my diet accordingly. I love a good bar of chocolate but tend to go a bit overboard and go for the big, stodgy bars (nothing like a good Mars bar!) so when I saw these Slimfast bars which essentially looked like a Mars bar for under 100 calories, I had to give them a go!
Slimfast is a dieting plan which 'allows' you to eat two Slimfast meals or shakes of up to 230 calories, one 600 calorie evening meal, and three 100 calorie snacks per day. By eating no more than 1360 of the 1800-2000 calories needed per average adult per day, participants quickly start to lose weight. These snack bars are part of the 100 calorie snack range of which dieters are allowed 3 of per day according to the Slimfast rules. I'm not personally following the Slimfast diet and was just after a lower calorie chocolate fix.
On opening the pack, you are faced with what looks like a smaller version of a Mars bar. It has the same rippled effect on top. It is however, a lot lighter and thinner than a Mars bar. I was very surprised by my first bite; it didn't taste like 'diet chocolate' at all. I would describe it as a more airy, less stodgy version of a Mars with less caramel. Not bad at all, especially for just 99 calories!
Let's get down to the calorie content then compared to a standard bar of chocolate shall we! As I mentioned earlier, each 26g bar contains an amazing 99 calories. In addition to this, there are 3.2g of fat and 18.1g of carbohydrates per bar. Comparing that 99 calories to the 261 calories in a Mars bar is a lot of difference - you can have three of these in the place of one Mars bar. However, a Mars bar is more than double the weight at 58g so don't be fooled into thinking your saving hundreds of calories. So you get a better idea, there are 382 calories per 100g in the Slimfast compared to 450 per 100g in a Mars bar, so you do save a fair few calories.
The next bit is pricing. This bar will set you back on average 59p from Boots and Superdrug. Asda and Tesco currently have it on a price cut at 38p, which isn't too bad for a bar of chocolate. But then again a Mars bar is 40p, so you are essentially paying the same price for half the product!
I'm sorry to keep comparing this to a Mars bar, by the way. Hope it's not making you crave one. (It is me!)
So, what's the verdict? I don't think this is a bad snack bar by any means. It's perfect for giving yourself a tiny little treat, and is good for when you are craving a bit of chocolate. I also find that buying single serving bars makes it easier to stop! When you have to open each wrapper individually you are more aware of what you are doing, meaning you are more likely to stop at one, rather than carry on and eat the whole 200g bar of Galaxy, for example!
I am just wary of Slimfast and diet type products as all they essentially are, are smaller portion sizes of standard foods which you pay a premium price for. In this case there are a few calories less per 100g than in a Mars bar, but you can get a 115 calorie Curly-Wurly chocolate bar for just 15p. I felt a bit cheated after realising that I'd paid 59p for what was, pretty much, just half a Mars bar in different packaging.
Overall, not a bad idea if you are bad with portion control, but if you are on a budget (like me!) you'd be better off just buying a handful of fudges and curly wurly's and saving yourself some £'s!
