      Thanks for Reading :)

I am a big fan of chocolate, and one of my favourite chocolate bars has to be the famous 'Snickers'. It can be purchased from any Supermarket, Newsagent, Petrol Station etc you name it they probably have it. I usually buy the standard pack of four from my local Asda Supermarket, and they are usually priced at £1.79. However it is worth looking around at other stores now and again for offers, such as Home Bargains, as they can occasionally sell chocolates cheaper than supermarket prices.

      Taste:

Well first and foremost upon appearance the chocolate bar is nice and chunky, which is great as it means it is packed with lots of nutty and caramel treats. A soon as I get my teeth in, I am instantly greeted with the explosive nutty flavour and crunchy texture. The caramel doesn't take long to show its existence, it's beautifully melts into my mouth, helping the nuts gather around my tongue and adds that extra kick. The caramel makes the added nutty flavour and texture less dry and more welcoming. The nougart is another element that is not that often added to chocolate bars that I have tried, so having it included in this snicker bar makes this even more tasty and a nice change from other plain chocolates.

The chocolate covers the bar well, it is a nice thin but tasty layer that is not too chocolaty and the nice volume of chocolate helps make this chocolate bar far from sickly. The mixture of the chocolate, nuts, caramel swirls up so well when chewing away; each element holds its own flavour excellently; just when you think 'oh this is getting a bit nutty' the caramel kicks in and gives a new dimension to the flavour.

      Verdict:

Overall this is a great chocolate bar packed with flavour to keep your chocolate craving abbey. I would in particular recommend this to any nut lover, caramel lover or basically any chocolate addict; as it will make you go nuts!

I give this 5 stars without a doubt and won't even take one off for the cost

Marathon was always one of my favourite chocolate bars when I was growing up and I remember the first time I had it as Snickers. I was staying with a friend whose husband was in the forces and stationed in Germany and we used to pop out to the kiosk on the corner to get a snack each night. There was my favourite bar behind the counter and the only way I was going to get it was to ask for a Snicker. I didn't know why the name changed but a quick look on Wikipedia tells me that Snickers was the original name and was the name of the favourite horse of the Mars family - that's your bit of useless information for the day.

I try to only have this from time to time now as it is quite unhealthy and also very filling. The advertisers play on the fact that it can stop hunger - the present commercial shows a footballer transforming into diva Joan Collins because he is hungry - and there were concerns about the largest sized bar being too high in calories so they have instead made it as a duo.

Nowadays Snickers Duo cost 70p although a lot of service stations have them on offer of 2 for £1.20 while the original bar is 55p. Apart from the name, the wrapper does not appear to have changed over the year and so it is easy to pick them out on the racks.

The name takes up most of the front of the wrapper and then there are the ingredients and calorie/fat content in a box on the reverse. An original size bar weighs 58.7g and has 14g of fat.

The bar is made up of soft nougat, nuts, soft caramel and is covered in chocolate. To me this is a perfect combination and if I am eating this when I am on my own I eat the nougat first and then save the caramel and nuts to the end.

The bar does not look a great deal different to other bars and I am not sure if I could tell a naked Snickers from a naked Mars bar but the taste is much better. The bar is easy to bite through most of the time, but if it is very cold, there is a worry that the caramel may become hard and difficult to get through. I certainly would not eat one of these straight out of the fridge.

The main taste is nuts and this is something that comes through in every bite. I can eat a full bar in one go and normally do, but if you don't have a very sweet tooth, it may be best to go for the Duo and just eat half.

I think this is fairly good value when you compare the price of other chocolate nowadays, but I do sometimes think - 11 shillings for a bar of chocolate!!!

I give this 5 stars without a doubt and won't even take one off for the cost.

          A nice peanut chocolate bar

I am a massive fan of chocolate and sometimes peanuts and so a Snickers Bar seems like the perfect combination of these two flavours. I'm a pretty rare breed in that I don't actually like peanut butter but I don't mind peanut themselves and so I'm lucky that Snickers Bars have whole crunchy peanuts in their products which are a nice crisp texture. The chocolate bar is not only milk chocolate and peanuts however as there is also a layer of nougat. The nougat is covered with roasted peanuts and a layer of caramel and then it's covered in relatively thin layer of chocolate which is a nice consistency as its not too much to overpower the other flavours.

Snickers Bars can be bought in individual bars, packs of four/eight and can also be found in boxes of Celebrations with other chocolate products from the Mars brand (of which Snickers falls under) like Caramel, Mars, Galaxy, Maltesers etc. I like that there is a reasonable amount of variety in how you can buy the product as it means you can get one for yourself as a treat or perhaps buy a pack for the whole family to dip into.

A single Snickers Bar will usually cost you between 50-80p depending on the price range of the store you're visiting. I tend to buy them in packs of four as you can often get a lot more for your money, like for example I bought a pack of four today for £1. This is much better value for money, although a single bar is in the range of all other chocolate bars so its not really that expensive if you compare it to its peers.

Overall I do like Snickers Bars and think they're a nice chocolate bar to treat myself to from time to time. The flavour can become a bit samey if you have too many, but this wont be a problem for most people as not many eat chocolate as regularly as me. One issue I do have with Snickers is that compared to other chocolate bars they are quite a bit more calorific and this may be a problem for some (they include 271 calories and 13.6 grams of fat). But I do feel that when eaten irregularly as a treat this isn't too much of an issue. The bar has a nice consistency and there is the right balance between peanut and chocolate without overpowering the other and of course they taste great too.

            yum yum chocolate!

As a child I was probably quite unusual in the fact that I got no pleasure in eating chocolate. Over time however, I have grown to love the stuff.

A Snickers bar is a chocolate bar that pre-dates myself in another name, the Marathon bar. For me,a question I've always asked people when buying chocolate is whether they preferred a Snickers bar or Mars Bar. I am firmly in the Snickers camp.

After I got through the ticket barriers at the train station on my way to work I got handed a promotional Snickers bar which came in an "IN CASE OF EMERGENCY BOX" which is linked to their latest marketing promotion, "You're not you when you are hungry". The promotion has been run online, in adverts and now in promotional events like this, and the suggestion is that when you are hungry you are inclined to do things that are totally out of character for you. The campaign is attempting to appeal to women more than its previous promotions which have included the tag lines, "Get some nuts".

I wouldn't say this chocolate bar immediatly appeals to women, it is one chunky chocolate bar! The packaging is almost masculine looking aswell, with the bold font on a brown background.

            The taste however is DIVINE!

I love anything with nuts in, especially peanuts. Snickers is comprised of smooth milk chocolate wrapped around soft nougat which contains the nut pieces. There is also a layer of smooth caramel to give the chocolate bar a variety of textures.

Snickers bars are incredibly sweet however and one is definately enough! The calorie content is quite high on a Snickers at over 260 calories, so I have these as an occasional treat.

This chocolate bar is great for when you need a pick me up or a sugar boost, but overdoing this sickly treat will give you a sugar overload

My favourite chocolate bar, great mix of ingredients

For me chocolate and peanuts are one of the best combinations in food, so I love Snickers bars a huge amount. A Snickers bar is a combination of an outside layer of chocolate, underneath that a layer of caramel, peanuts and nougat all put together to make one yummy chocolate bar! I first had these in a small tin of chocolates that were given to our family and liked them in the small sized treats, and figured I might as well go out and buy bigger sized ones.

At my local newsagents they cost around 70p, which is more expensive than other chocolate bars, but this is probably due to the fact that a Snickers is one of the more well known and contains more than your average bar of chocolate. Normally at supermarkets, they are generally sold at around £1.50 for four, which is a true bargain and generally they tend to be included in some form of sale or bargain.

Normally caramel makes me feel quite ill whenever I eat it with chocolate, so when I first had a Snickers bar I was expecting it to taste almost like a Dairy Milk Caramel bar. But thankfully it didn't! With the nougat, chocolate and peanuts all infused together - it makes for a bar that is the right balance between savoury and sweet. The peanuts make the bar quite crunchy but then combined with the soft nougat, its even tastier.

The product quality is great for its price, as you do get quite a lot out of a full bar and they are quite chunky. The peanuts are always toasted to a good standard and the chocolate is always creamy and smooth. It also contains no artificial colours, flavours or preservatives, if you are worried about those types of things being included within your food.

Overall this is a great chocolate bar for the price that it is offered at, and has a great combination of ingredients making for the ultimate chocolate bar. I would recommend it to anyone who love chocolate or peanuts, or chocolate and peanuts together as a matter of fact!

One of the best mars chocolate bars!

I have a very sweet tooth and am yet to find a chocolate bar that I do not really like. One bar of chocolate that I do really enjoy is the Mars Snickers although I try not to eat them too much as they are quite high in calories. But recently Tesco has had a great offer on many of the Mars range of chocolate bars in multipacks so thought it would be rude not to take advantage.

I paid just £1.00 for a multipack of 5 snickers bars which works out at just £0.20 per bar! I thought this was a fantastic bargain and have purchased a few packs to store away as if you purchase a single snickers bar you can find yourself paying up to £0.70 per bar in some shops.

Mars introduced the snickers bar way back in 1930 and if you, like me are old enough to remember that in the UK Snickers were call Marathons until 1990! (Thank you Wikipedia). My mum never got over this change and even now, 22 years later she still calls them Marathon bars.

Each snickers bar comes packaged in a thin plastic brown wrapper and has 'SNICKERS' written is bold block writing across the front. On the side there is the snickers slogan 'get some nuts', this has been used a lot recently to promote the snickers bar, many of you have probably seen the TV adverts with Mr T which my husband finds very amusing. On the back of the wrapper you can find the usual nutritional information and ingredients listings.

A snicker bar comprises of a layer of nougat, topped with roasted peanuts, caramel and then covered all over in milk chocolate. Obviously all of these tasty ingredients mean that the snickers bars are not that good for you. A single 58g snickers bar contains the following nutritional information:
            Calories- 296
            Protein - 5.5g
            Fat - 16.4g
            Fibre - 0.8g
            Salt - 0.25g
The only consolation to this is that the snickers do not contain any artificial colours, flavours or preservatives.

The snickers are quite a substantial chocolate bar as it is chunky and quite dense. Although the bar looks quite hard it is actually quite easy to bite into as the nougat is quite soft inside. I love the combination of the soft slightly chewy nougat and the sweet caramel with the crunchy peanuts and smooth milk chocolate. These flavours and textures work together perfectly to give a lovely taste. The bar is altogether quite sweet but the peanuts have a nice roasted taste to them and seems to balance out the sweetness a little and add a nice contrast.

Overall I really love the snickers bar and it is one that I will continue to purchase, especially if they keep having them on special offer in Tesco!!

These are really decent chocolate bars as they contain many more ingredients compared to normal chocolate bars. They're bursting with nuts, caramel and chocolate. The chocolate is lovely and oozy and it melts in the mouth as you eat it. The nuts give the bar a nice texture and the caramel adds to the sweet taste that the bar gives you. The caramel can be a little stringy though. It's not too messy, just be careful not to get it everywhere as that could be a little embarrassing! (I usually find some hanging from the corner of my mouth!).

You can buy the bars from most supermarkets and corner shops and they come in different sizes. You can buy them in average sized bars, king sized bars and snack sized bars. Expect to pay around 60p for an average sized bar, however the bar is of a decent size and it is good value compared to smaller bars like Milky Bars, Freddos e.t.c. They're easy to hold in the hand and you get a good few mouthfuls from each bar.

The bar itself is really filling and it gives you a real boost as and when you need it. The bar wouldn't be suitable for people suffering from nut allergies as it contains peanuts. The peanuts are lovely if you don't suffer from allergies. They give the bar a real crunch, just be careful not to harm your teeth! I cracked a tooth on a peanut once so i'm extra careful now.

Lovely bars of sweet chocolate swirled with peanuts and caramel. Yum! I want one now!

                Go nuts for peanuts!

I have to admit when it comes to choosing a chocolate bar; I would never normally pick one with nuts in it- This might of been because of an unfortunate experience with the Cadbury Fruit and Nut I had a while back. However after 3 hours swimming one day and feeling, naturally hungry and after searching in vain in all the Leisure centers cafes I could not find that Yorkie bar I craved. It was then I glanced over and saw the Snickers bar which I had heard good feedback on. Being ravenous at that point I bought one! I was so glad I did!

Taste; After biting in for the first time it reminded me of the horrible sickly caramely Mars Bar on sale. This is because I first noticed the nicest part of the Mars, the tasty Nougat. After the taste of the nougat I noticed the item that set it apart from the sickly caramely Mars. The Snickers was infused with peanuts! The problem is with the Mars is the caramel. It makes the bar far to sickly. However the Snickers is different. Although there is caramel in the bar the peanuts council out the caramel. This might be because the peanuts in the bar are slightly salty which works well with the over sweet caramel. The peanuts were also quite crunchy which was a lovely combination with the soft nougat and the smooth sweet chocolate. I therefore really love the taste of the Snickers.
Smell; I love the smell of the Snickers. This is because the chocolate smelt sweet but not to sickly. The peanuts are also very noticeable because they smell as if they were toasted and smell quite savory.

Packaging; The Snickers bar is wrapped in a plastic type paper. It is quite noticeable on the shelf as the packaging is quite dark- replicating the chocolate. Towards the bottom of the packaging it becomes lighter replicating the colour of the peanuts.
Product Quality; I was very impressed with the product quality of the Snickers bar. This is because the chocolate is smooth and creamy- though not a creamy as Cadbury Dairy Milk. The biggest thing that impressed me with the Snickers bar was the peanuts, as they are very crisp and tasted as if they were toasted- and mildly salty which worked well sickly caramel- which ruins the Mars bar. I was also impressed that this bar contains no hydrogenated vegetable oil. Another good thing about the Snickers Bar is the fact that there is a high amount of Protein, which can promote body healing, and the growth of cells.

Value For Money; A single standard bar costs around £0.50 and weighs 58 grams, because of its size the bar is very filling. The bar is as mentioned of good quality, I can, therefore rate this bar to be exceptionally good value for money.
Verdict; A great snack bar after an energetic sports lesson! A much better alternative to the Mats Bar!!!!

                  sweet but still good

Snickers are one of my favourite chocolate bars. You can get 5 for a £1 now in supermarket offers which is a great price since they are more filling and heavier than most chocolate bars.

The outer layer is milk chocolate. I find this chocolate far too sweet (its the same in Mars Bars). Its just too sugary although it stills tastes a little creamy. Inside the bar are nuts, caramel and nougat. The nougat is the bottom layer and then on top, caramel and peanuts. It tastes delicious and the caramel is the highlight. Again, the nougat is just too sweet for me.

I think an improvement for the Snickers bar would be to reduce the sugar in the chocolate and add more milk/cream. The nougat is too sweet also. This bar is still very filling and delicious though. More than one bar is just too much though because the sugar goes straight to your brain!

Famous chocolate bar from the Mars company

Another popular chocolate bar that you can buy in many supermarkets and newsagents is a Snickers which for a standard sized bar will cost you 50 to 60 pence depending on where you get yours from. The bar is roughly the same thickness and length of a normal Mars bar and is in fact manufactured by the Mars Company. A Snickers is nougat with peanuts and caramel covered in milk chocolate which is a very pleasurable experience to eat.

The nougat and the peanuts mean that this can be a bit tough to bite and chew especially if it has been chilled in the fridge for a while so you need to tread with caution a little as regards your teeth. Obviously if you are not a fan of nuts or you are allergic then this is a no go for you. These wouldn't be my first choice as although I like these I do have other confectionery items nearer the top of my list of favourites. The popularity of this brand is also seen in the fact that you are able to purchase flapjacks based on this and also ice cream versions of the Snickers bar. Most recently a Snickers Maximus was introduced which I have eaten a few times as the small company I work for is actually called Maximus. This edition featured just caramel and peanuts wrapped with milk chocolate.

Unless you don't enjoy nuts or nougat I think many would like these with tea or coffee but the nutritional values do seem a bit high with a 58g standard bar containing just over 296 calories and over 16g of fat but 58g is a bit heavier weight wise than a lot of its competitors in the confectionery market.

                    Advantages

                    Disadvantages

                    A nice treat

When it comes to chocolate, I am really fussy. I can't stand the cheapo, fatty kind of chocolate, but I don't like the dark chocolate either. I love white chocolate and milk chocolate although for obvious reasons I very rarely actually indulge. My friend had a multipack of snickers in her bag earlier today, and offered them around. I had totally forgotten about Snickers bars - i've not had one in ages although I am familiar with the brand due to the advertisements (with Mr T!) and because Snickers have been around since I was tiny - in fact they were around way before I was born, as Snicker bars were first introduced back in 1930.

Snickers bars are produced by Mars Incorporated, which is the same company that makes a considerable amount of other well known chocolate such as maltesers, mars bars, bounty bars, m&m's, milky ways, etc. The name 'Snickers' was the name of the Mar families' favourite horse and they decided to name the chocolate bar a Snickers bar as a kind of 'tribute' I suppose. A snickers bar consists of milk chocolate, peanuts and nougat. The nougat is covered with roasted peanuts and caramel, and then it's covered in a not-too-thick-but-thick-enough layer of milk chocolate.

A snickers bar is available in a variety of shapes and sizes, including miniature bars, snack size bars, medium to large sized bars and enormous bars that weigh over one pound! There are also ice cream versions of the Snickers bar including tubs of the icecream or with the creamy icecream in the actual chocolate bar, replacing the nougat. Snicker bars can be bought in multipacks or seperately. Prices obviously vary depending on where you buy it from - Snickers are widely available from supermarkets, newsagents and even the internet (Amazon, eBay etc). For a multipack of five 58 gram bars, it averages at £1.50-£2 and for a single snickers bar (58 grams) it averages at 40-50p. I don't think that Snickers are too expensive like some brands of chocolate can be and the multipacks are really good value in my opinion.

A snickers bar is really tasty. The texture is nice and you can either suck it and enjoy each flavour - first the chocolate, then peanuts and then the thick layer of caramel and ofcourse the nougat, or bite straight through it and enjoy the crunchy texture. I personally suck mine until the chocolate is melted and then chew the nougat and nuts which makes a nice mixture of flavours and textures and the nuts help prevent it from being too sweet/sickly. All of the flavours go well together and even a small bar satisfies my cravings for chocolate or sweet food straight away. Saying that though, I do have alot of self control and am able to stop after one bar - for people who aren't able to stop at one bar then I wouldn't reccomend Snicker bars as they are very high calorie - each 52 gram snickers chocolate bar contains 271 calories. Considering the size and the nice and satisfying chocolatey sweet taste, I don't think that this is too bad. It is alot of calories but I do find that one bar leaves my sweet tooth satisfied and not craving anything else, so I would reccomend snickers.

When it comes to the ingredients, nothing seems sinister. It contains the usual bits and bobs such as cocoa butter, sugar, vegetable fat, etc, and obviously contains milk and nuts, so it's one to avoid if you have any nut/milk allergies. Overall, I do like a Snickers bar once in a while when i'm really craving a bar of chocolate but it's not something I would ever dream of eating regulary.

                      Disadvantages

                      10/10

The Snickers bar used to be called the Marathon, it's advertising campaign on television features the famous A-Team member, Mr. T. The adverts are funny, with Mr. T's catchphrase in the campaign being "Get some nuts!" - which is suitable as the SNickers is full of peanuts, however it implies the Snickers is for men only. You could argue that the Snickers is targeted at males.

The combinaton of chocolate, nougat, caramel and peanut is a great tasting one. It sells formidably well and I'd say it's popularity is just lower than the Mars bar (as some people don't like nuts). It's chewy and not too hard to bite in to, It can last a while too, you don't have to scoff it down as fast as you can. It's quite filling too, and the calories reinforce this!

It's great for giving you a little energy boost during the day, or as a well deserved treat at the end of a long day.

Nowadays a Snickers bar costs around 47p, wel that's the cost at my local newsagent. I have seen multipacks of 4 for a pound and other similar offers in supermarkets before. It can also be bought in the Snickers Duo pack - for around 70p. These Snickers bars are a bit smaller than the single bar I think, which I suppose makes the idea of the Snickers Duo a bit pointless, and to an extent a rip off. However when you work it out you do get more for your money with the Duo.

I would recommend the Snickers to anyone! I have found that less girls than boys like it, I'm not sure why though. If you don't like nuts then this is not the chocolate bar for you.

The Snickers bar will never go out of style...

For me, the Snickers Bar is the perfect energy booster and hunger slowdown, this legendary bar of chocolate, caramel and peanuts a really good treat for when you`re feeling a bit tired, hungry or just in need of a little extra energy... With peanuts, nougat, caramel and chocolate, this is a bar that I only eat once in a while, simply because it can become a bit too much, and I prefer to enjoy this bar when I`m really hungry or wanting something delicious! Snickers is a perfect combination of salt and sweet, and it`s no wonder it`s one of the most popular chocolate bars across the world...

In the U.K, a single bar of Snickers can be purchased for as little as 3.2 p, which is nothing! I was on holiday in Europe some time ago, and in Norway, one single bar of Snickers costs 1.50 pounds! Anyway, the Snickers bar is a great combination of chocolate, caramels and salty peanuts, this is a combination that works and will keep on working long into the future, and as its both delicious and cheap, I really do recommend it as a nice snack for when you need to boost your energy or just feel like a treat!

                        Disadvantages

4 stars for taste but perhaps only 3 for content/ calories.

Whatever happened to the trusty Marathon Bar?

Some time ago, in the not so distant past history of the Mars Snickers Bar, thats pre 1990 to you and I, people knew and loved it as the Mars Marathon Bar. Yes, the original nutty, caramel filled bar we now know as Snickers, was previously sold as Marathon in the UK and Ireland for so very long that we all felt a bit hard done by when the name was changed.

                        *********************************************************
Mars decided it was best to standardize many of its product names across the world, so the name was changed to Snickers in 1990. It took a while for us to all become used to the new name even though 18 months before the name change, the words "Internationally known as Snickers" were printed on the sides of the Marathons distinctive brown and white wrapper. Well it didn't help us love the new name much, but in time the name Snickers has grown on us. After all the same great taste is enclosed in the wrapper.

The bar is made with a mix of chewy peanut nougat thats topped with crunchy roasted peanuts and then drizzled with a very sugary sweet tasting caramel. The whole thing is then covered with a layer of thick milk chocolate.

                        **********************************************************
The average calorie content in the 58g bar is around 296, which is a hefty amount of calories for just one sugary snack. Each bar also contains up to 16.5g of fat, ouch! Another downside, apart from the calorie and fat content is that the bar is a solid chunky mix, which does take a bit of eating and can and does get stuck in your teeth. With that many calories and its high fat content its not really an very day food stuff. It is however filling and satisfying to eat every now and then.

The bars makers, Mars phased out king size bars some time ago only to replace them with shareable 'Duo' bars, due to encouragement from the Food and Drink Federation to be more health conscious. So king sized bars were replaced by the the new twin bar sharing pack. The idea of these it that they are good for sharing or saving one bar for another time.

                        **********************************************************
Multi packs in various sizes including mini bars, abound on supermarket shelves everywhere and Snickers has gone from strength to strength.

In summary Snickers are a fine tasting mix of ingredients, but do contain high salt, fat and sugar levels. As a treat they are moorish and filling, but they certainly are not something to be eaten every day. So 4 stars for taste but perhaps only 3 for content/ calories.
