TERRY'S CHOCOLATE ORANGE WITH POPPING CANDY

These limited edition versions of the original Terry's Chocolate Orange are in the shops now for the Christmas period: I have bought mine from the local Sainsbury's on a special offer of 3 for the price of two, and they cost around £3 each singly.

This version comes in the usual sized cubed box, with the orange-shaped chocolates inside, only this time the box is pink.

I have been very good and put two away for Santa to bring later in the year, however I felt it was my duty as a mother to test out the third one, particularly as it was free.

Opening the box, inside there is the usual thick foil-lined paper wrapped around the chocolate orange: This version of the traditional treat is the milk chocolate variety so beloved of Terry's fans.

"Tap it and unwrap it" isn't quite enough, I find, it's more of a "Smash it onto a hard surface and unwrap it".

Anyway, once inside, break it up into segments and have a look: I snapped a segment in half to look for the 'popping candy' but I could not see anything out of the ordinary. Another con, I thought, until I put the piece in my mouth.

For best results, suck slowly and let it melt in your mouth: Then you start to get the funny sensation of the popping candy, crackling away in there. It's quite weird but really, really yummy.

The best bit is as it goes down your throat, you can feel it 'popping' and 'crackling' all the way down which is really strange.

But the taste is delicious, the Terry's Chocolate Orange delicious milk chocolate of old, mixed with this surprising and tasty addition. Apparently, this is a limited edition treat, so I wouldn't be surprised if it was not around anymore after Christmas - so make sure you try it at least once.

Overall verdict: Perfect for everyone's Christmas stocking.
