Advantages: Taste, novelty, price
Disadvantages: Difficulty seperating segments
Introduced in the 1930's, Terry's chocolate orange is orange flavoured chocolate, decorated to resemble a real orange.
Available for around £3, each chocolate orange comes in a small, decorated and well labelled box with an open front to show off the 'orange'. The chocolate orange is wrapped in foil and sealed with a Terry's stamp of approval sticker on the top. Once unwrapped each 'orange' contains twenty chocolate segments in a similar style to a genuine orange in the way they look and are arranged. Requiring just a slight bang to the orange to separate the segments (don't do this on your head!), the orange is then ready to be eaten.
You can smell the orange as soon as the packaging is open (sometimes even before) and each segment has a strong but pleasant blend of milk chocolate/orange flavouring. The packaging makes for a nice present, as well as the apparent novelty (judging by some peoples' reactions) of getting a chocolate orange, despite being available for over seventy years. Personally, I love the taste and enjoy eating them although I also know a number of people who dislike them, so it is not for everyone.
Also as a side note, fans of chocolate oranges may wish to try mixing Tia Maria with pure orange, guess what it tastes like? Enjoy
Summary: I love them, you might too
