Terry's Chocolate Orange
Advantages: Tastes lovely
Terry's Chocolate Orange is something we always have at Christmas, someone always has one brought them this time its my husband who received one in his stocking. We both love Terry's Chocolate Orange so there was no way I was going let him eat it all without having a segment or two.
Terry's Chocolate Orange comes in a blue square box, there is a hole cut out of three sides of the box, this allows you to see the chocolate orange inside, just above the hole on these three sides are the words "Terry's" written in yellow and "Chocolate Orange" written in orange this is made to look like it is written in orange peel. In the bottom right hand corner is the style of the chocolate orange which in this case is "Milk" as in milk chocolate, this is written on all three sides. the back of the box or the fourth side is slightly different to the others, there is a picture of one of the chocolate orange segments with a speech bubble coming from it saying "Im So Orangey" written in orange writing, just underneath this is a sentence about the product stating how many segments are in each orange, the rest of this side is take up with the Terry's contact details. The base of the box contains all of the product information such as the nutritional information and the ingredients, the top of the box has a small gift tag printed on the top of it which can be filled in if you are giving this as a present. The inside of the box is bright orange which can be seen through the holes in the sides of the box this really stands out against the blue of the outside of the box, inside of the box is a clear plastic case which holds the chocolate orange and stops it from rolling around inside the box. The orange itself is wrapped in an orange coloured foil secured with a small Terry's Chocolate Orange sticker, the foil is designed to look like orange peel.
The chocolate orange itself is basically an orange shape made up of individual segments fused together, you need to tap the orange on a hard surface in order to divide the segments or at least loosen a few of them. Each segment is designed to look like an orange segment, the outside of the segment is made to look like the peel with the sides looking like the actual inside of an orange, this pattern is printed into the chocolate along with the word "Terry's", each segment is designed to look like this, there is a slightly thicker piece of chocolate in the centre of the orange which is used to hold all of the segments together so that the orange does not fall apart when you remove the outer foil. Each chocolate orange is made up of 20 individual segments and contains essence of oranges.
The nutritional information on the base of the box is given as either per 100g or oer 26g which is 3 segments, the details below are per 3 segments.
*Calories - 139
*Protein - 2.0g
*Carbohydrates - 15.0g
*Fat - 7.7g
The calorie and fat content is not too bad per 3 segments, I did expect it to be a bit higher than this, however you do not get a huge amount of chocolate in 3 segments, also I personally find that with a chocolate orange you very rarely stick to just 3 segments.
Price & Availability
Terry's Chocolate Oranges are available in most supermarkets as well as various other shops, I have even seen them in the confectionary sections of shops like Superdrug. Each Terry's Chocolate Orange pack is 175g which amounts to the 20 segments per orange I mentioned earlier. Each chocolate orange costs £2.75 although they are often on offer. This is probably about averagely priced, Id say maybe they are a bit expensive for the amount of chocolate you actually get per orange but personally I would be happy to pay this price as I do really enjoy Terry's Chocolate Orange as a treat.
Personally I really like Terry's Chocolate Orange, the milk chocolate is extremely creamy with a smooth texture, the orange flavour is very strong within the chocolate, the orange flavour is what I would call neither sweet or sour but it still works perfectly with the milk chocolate. Terry's Chocolate Oranges make an ideal gift for a chocolate lover or a treat, this is something we always have at Christmas. I wouldn't say a chocolate orange is something which is particularly long lasting especially in our house, although I do think I would struggle to eat one on my own, Terry's Chocolate Oranges are perfect for the whole family are and ideal for sharing. I would definitely recommend Chocolate Oranges to anyone.
