Advantages: Nice chocolate for a snack.
Disadvantages: Little too thick for very small children to eat.
I have tried and bought many shops own brands of chocolate. I bought this chocolate from Tesco about a month ago to try because I wanted I like milk chocolate and also wanted to buy the milk one for my little grandson and I to try together and share. I bought 3 of these before Christmas from my local Tesco Express store. I have just finished eating my last bar at the weekend.
It comes in a paper wrapper. Very basic looking in design. There are oblong shaped segments and there are 24 in the block. This is a quite thick and chunky chocolate bar compared to other shops own brands. The chocolate is a nice colour and does look appetising. The chocolate has a kind of ridge pattern and it is around half and inch thick so quite a good thickness in my opinion. I was quite shocked on how thick it actually is when I first opened the packet.
It is a nice tasting chocolate with a good flavour. It has a nice smell to it too and one that is quite a pleasant smell. It does not taste bland at all. It is a little harder to break than some other brands but that is because of the thickness. Once broken it does melt in the mouth perfectly. It does have a creamy taste once melted in the mouth. I find is smooth and soft too. But I did find it to be a little too thick for my little grandson because he is only 3 years old and still quite young for such a thicker chocolate in my opinion. I had to watch him all the time he was eating this chocolate so that he didn't choke on it or have any difficulty eating it. He could not bite into it as easily as an adult could bite it. I think this one in my opinion is not really suitable for smaller children.
It is a good one for adults who can eat more thicker chocolate but I would not recommend it for the little ones of my grandson's age. It would be fine for older children to chew and swallow with no problems at all. I do love thick chocolate and I found this one more than suitable for myself and my hubby to eat.
I paid just 30p for this bar of chocolate and so a very good price for a give away price. The bar size is 100g so a good size for the cheap price. It is so affordable for any budget in my opinion.
This is ideal for using for cooking. It melts fairly quickly too. I used it to make some buns since my little grandson couldn't eat it so well from the bar. We made some Cornflake buns, I just melted the chocolate and added the Cornflakes. Lots of parents and grandparents use chocolate for these kind of buns. This one works well melted for baking etc. it works well with another food product and for those baking days with children. For the price it means that they can just mess around in the kitchen and have fun.
If you love white chocolate and are looking for a cheaper brand, this one I would recommend. As I said previously in my review if you have very young children it is worth bearing in mind the thickness of the bar. For this reason I am dropping a star but only for this reason for younger children to eat.
Overall I cannot fault this chocolate, it is cheap and so affordable with a good taste. I would certainly not hesitate in buying it again in the future for myself to eat and as time goes by for my little grandson for when he can eat it more easily.
It does tell me on the packet that it is suitable for vegetarians. Also that it contains Soya so it is worth bearing in mind if you have an allergy to Soya etc.
I give this one 4 stars.
Thank you for reading my review and I hope it has been of some help
