      lovely

My hubby absolutley adores turkish delight sweets and chocolates, they are his favourite. He is also a big fan of thorntons toffees, fudges and chocolates so when I saw these they seemed like the ideal valentines gift and seen as it is valentines weekend we have exchanged gifts early. I am not a great fan of turkish delight but had to try one for the purpose of this review and have to say I am very impressed, these are described as being a delicate rose flavoured turkish delight smothered in dark chocolate. The rose flavouring is perfect, it is very subtle just as they claimed it to be, I find some turkish delights taste like I am eating perfumed jelly but as this was a very mild taste it didnt feel like that at all and didn't leave any nasty after taste in my mouth, it has a nice sweet taste to it aswell that works very well with the dark chocolates bitterness giving an over all very nice taste that is sweet but not sickly and the texture of the turkish deligh is a nice texture too, its not too soft so adds a nice cheweyness to the sweet without being dry. These are perfect in every way and very moorish. There are no artificial colours or flavours, they are suitable for vegitarians, gluten free diets and alcohol free recipies.

        The BEST Turkish Delight!

I have been meaning to clear my wardrobe out for ages and finally got round to it today, I was rewarded twice and found a fiver in an old purse and a Xmas pressie from my mate that I'd forgot all about. It's too warm to wear the scarf that she got me..... but wicked weather for the box of Thorntons Turkish Delight Chocolates.

I LOVE Turkish Delight and this is delish, it's expensive though and I know it was a present but I had to check the price for the review and I've just found out I've sat and scoffed £6.50's worth of chocolate tonight!

They come in quite big cubes, the jelly has got a delish flavour. It's solid but melts proper nice in your mouth, it's chewy at first though so you've kind of got the option of how you want to eat it. I like sucking the chocolate off first, it's a yummy Thorntons milk chocolate and goes better with the jelly than the Dairy Milk does on the Turkish Delight Cadburys make. I think that's because of the chocolate being sweet but not madly sugary like Dairy Milk because that lets the sweet taste of the jelly come through as the strongest taste.

The jelly has got quite a strong flavour, it's a rose raspberry taste that is rich and fruity. It can get a bit sickly after 2 or 3 pieces but I think most of that is because the chocolate is quite thick because the jelly is delicate even though it's strong.

I think these chocolates are worth the money because they DO taste better than the sort of Turkish Delight that you can buy in any shop. The chocolate and over all flavour is richer and it feels like you're having a proper treat instead of just a bar of something that you can buy every day.

Recommended..... this is delish Turkish Delight that feels like you're treating yourself big time! Happy Xmas! lol

        Yum!!!

OK so if you like Turkish Delight, then personally I think this is the best one! It's a little bit more expensive that most others but that's because it's made with gorgeous Thorntons chocolate! Turkish Delight is one of those things you either love or hate - personally when it's covered in chocolate and isn't too over powering I love it. I put these in the fridge as I have a thing about chocolate not being all melted and mushy - much better when it's all hard and crisp out of the fridge if you ask me!

Thorntons Turkish Delight is not a chocolate bar - they come as individual chocolates in a bag. I am not sure how many you get in a bag - perhaps ten or twelve - they weigh 120g. Either way it is more than enough! The bags are a good size and are cream and pink, as pictured. A bag will set you back £2.49 - so like I said it isn't cheap but in my opinion you are paying for the best Turkish Delight because these are really good! The Turkish Delight is covered in milk chocolate and the actual Turkish Delight itself is actually not overpowering at all. In fact it's probably one of the weaker tasting ones you can buy. All this means is that if you're anything like me, the whole bag will be devoured in about ten minutes! They are soft and very easy to eat and if you have them in the fridge the chocolate will snap as you bite into it - giving you that lovely satisfying feeling mmmm. Think of a Magnum ice cream's chocolate mmm. They also don't go too hard in the fridge either so you won't break a tooth in the process don't worry! They are very tasty and the milk chocolate and Turkish Delight complement each other really well.

As well as the £2.49 bags you can also buy a box of them. The bags as I said are 120g and the boxes are £6.50 for 260g. However I feel it is much more worthwhile buying the bags. When you open the box it has two bags inside. Two bags of 120g is 240g and would set you back a fiver. So really, in my opinion, you are probably paying an extra £1.50 for one more chocolate and a cardboard box.

Although Marks and Spencers use Thorntons chocolate for all their chocolate bars and boxed chocolates (in case you didn't know), their Turkish Delight is nothing like Thorntons. In fact Marks and Spencers version is very strong and not to my liking at all.

Thorntons Turkish Delight is gluten and alcohol free and suitable for vegetarians. The bag does state however that it may contain nuts. Each chocolate weighs 40g and contains 40 calories and 1g of fat according to the bag. This means that there is around 400 calories per bag - quite a lot and more than your average chocolate bar but I would say there is more product in here than you would eat in a Mars Bar. Just because I eat a whole bag in one sitting doesn't mean everyone should! There's over 70g of sugar in one bag as well so this isn't really advised for a daily treat! Just as a one off treat!

I would say these are great to buy for Christmas in your house if you like Turkish Delight. I for one think these are the best tasting Turkish Delight on the market and I am always popping into Thorntons to pick up a bag! Give them a try!
