I love Thorntons chocolate and I buy their chocolate items through the year but at Christmas time I always buy some of their chocolate lollipops as they are so nice and I think they are very festive. I bought the snowman chocolate lolly from Thorntons this year and this is my review.
The snowman lolly is made of chocolate only and it has a white stick at the bottom which is the same as other lollipops. The Thorntons snowman lolly is made of white chocolate but has some detail on him which is in milk chocolate and this makes the snowman very nice looking. I think that the white chocolate is quite strong flavoured and can be a bit sickly and it is the only taste I can taste when I am eating it so I think the milk chocolate on the lolly is there for detail and not to add anything to the taste of the lollipop.
The chocolate snowman lollipop is hard but it is not to hard that I can't bite into it. The white chocolate is of a good quality and I think it is nice and creamy. The chocolate melts in my mouth when I am eating it and I think it tastes lovely. The only thing I would say about the white chocolate snowman lolly is that the white chocolate can be a bit on the sickly side after I have started eating it and I do not find this problem when I am eating other chocolate so think it is because the snowman is made of white chocolate which can be a bit sickly when eating it.
The packaging for the snowman white chocolate lolly is nice and I like how I can see the lolly through the packaging as there is clear plastic on the front. The packaging looks nice and Christmas like so I think it is a nice item to put in a stocking or to add into a Christmas present because it looks so nice.
The chocolate snowman lollipop cost around 70 pence in my Thorntons store which I think is great value and it is just the right amount to spend on a little stocking filler so I think it is a good price. I believe that the Christmas lollipops in Thorntons have been reduced recently to sell them of so you might be able to pick up a bargain if you visit their soon.
I would suggest giving the Christmas lollipops a try out when they come back into the stores next Christmas time as I have been buying them for a few years now and always enjoy eating the chocolate lollipops as they are really nice and are good quality.
I recieved this, along with a number of other Thorntons goodies for Christmas this year. I was keen to try it as I love white chocolate and I am also a big fan of Thorntons.
Thorntons are a high street chain who sell chocolate and other confectionary. I have noticed that some of their merchandise can now be found in larger supermarkets, although I have not seen these lollys in there and instead think these can only be bought in Thorntons shops. They cost 69p each.
The lolly is quite big in size, the lolly itself measuring about 3.5 inches tall and 1.5 inches wide. The chocolate is also quite thick at just under a centimetre. The lolly comes wrapped in a film wrapper which is clear in colour to allow you to see the lolly inside and also a pale blue. At the bottom of the wrapper there is a cartoon picture of presents giving you the christmas feel. The wrapper also tells me there is no artificial colours or flavours in this lolly.
Getting the lolly out of the wrapper I noticed that the detailing to the snowman was quite good. Although he is predominantly made of white chocolate, his scarf is coated in milk chocolate. The rest of the detail is quite good showing his face, buttons and his broom.
Biting into the lolly I noticed that the chocolate was quite thick and although I didnt find it particularly difficult to break, young children might. The chocolate was very smooth and creamy and tasted very sweet. It melted in the mouth well and was not too sticky. One thing I will say is that the lolly is quite sickly and although I am a big chocolate fan, I dont think I could manage more than one of these!
The back of the pack provides me with the nutritional information. The table is per 100g but there is nowhere on the wrapper that tells me how much the lolly weighs. However, each lolly contains 152 calories and 8.6g fat. This isnt too bad considering how big the lolly is and how thick and creamy the chocolate is however it should definitely only be enjoyed every so often.
Overall, I liked this lolly and thought it was a nice treat. It is especially nice to give to children as it is slightly higher quality chocolate than a number of the alternatives out there. The chocolate tasted nice and was certainly a nice treat.
Another day, another Thorntons lolly to review! lol Unfortunately I didn't think this White Chocolate Snowman lolly was as good as the others I've tried but he looks so cute that I had to buy him to try even though I'm not mad keen on white chocolate.
It was 69p and for that it's a good size. The snowman is about 2 1/2 inches tall and 1 inch wide at the broadest part, it's quite thin but I like that about this range of lollies because it makes the chocolate mega soft and easy to bite.
I like the thin round stick because it doesn't go too far up the lolly so the top part can be eaten in nice sized bites without me having to nibble round the stick.
It's going to be hard to review the taste of this lolly because it's good quality I reckon but I just don't like white chocolate. It's very smooth and creamy, the chocolate is soft and that's brill because it means my 2 1/2 year old sister could also have one of these lollies. Xmas is all about little kids and this is her 3rd Xmas but because she's still so young she's missing out on a lot of the munchy treats either because they're too hard or have got nuts in them. These Thorntons lollies have been wicked because she thinks they look great and can also eat them by herself.
The white chocolate tastes creamy, it's not as sweet as Milky Bar chocolate I don't think and that makes it taste like a more grown up version of white chocolate. It's quite similar in taste to the white bar that Green And Blacks make. The scarf on the snowman is milk chocolate and because it's a stronger taste than the white you can taste it a bit, so that tiny bit was deffo my fave part of the lolly! The milk chocolate ones that I've reviewed have had bits of dark chocolate on them for the decoration but you couldn't taste the difference with them, but you can on this one.
I still recommend it even though I'm not struck on the taste, that's my personal thing and I can't let it effect the star rating because it's a wicked lolly that any kid or adult who likes white chocolate would love to find in their stocking.
