Advantages: It has a distinctive flavour and packaging

Disadvantages: The almondy taste is too much for me

Toblerone was created in Switzerland in 1907, the shape of the chocolate pieces are different to most other chocolate bars, the triangular shape are supposed to represent the Matterhorn mountain in the Swiss Alps. Created by Theodor Tobler the chocolate combines chocolate, almond flavoured Nougat and crisp chewy honey.

In the old days, Toblerone used to be different for its cardboard packaging, this is still available for some of the larger bars which are bought more regularly around Christmas, nowadays they are more regularly packaged in a foil wrapper, the wrapper is yellow with red wording with a picture of mountains.

Its not something I buy regularly but we bought some at Christmas and still have plenty left, it has a crunchy texture with a hint of honey and nougat matched to the milk chocolate and you can also taste the almonds. A 200g bar costs 1.79p in Tesco at the moment and you can buy smaller bars, although I've never seen the point of this.

Ingredients:

Sugar, Cocoa butter, Whole milk powder, Cocoa mass, Lactose, Honey (3%),
Milk fat, Almonds (1.6%), Emulsifier, Glucose syrup, Egg white, Flavoring (vanillin). The milk chocolate contains Cocoa solids (28%min) and Milk solids (14%min).

Personally I don't like the bars too much, the mix of crunch and almonds is distinctive and a real love/hate flavour, I personally will eat the bars when we have them but don't go out of my way for them. You can also buy White Chocolate Toblerones.

There are 530 calories in a 100g bar so it is incredibly bad for you and a 200g bar would be half of your daily calorie intake in one go, for me that's too much but my partner loves the bars and finds that she can get through at least 100g in one sitting as each piece is massive and it disappears very quickly.
