Ah Twix! a chocolate sweet that seems to have been around forever!..Well it has been around my whole life anyway..all 38 years of it. I sound like an old man when I say to people younger than me "I remember when Twix's were 15p." The thing is, when Twix's were 15p you got more value for money.
The Twix of yesteryear seemed to have a lot more biscuit in it than the Twix you see in our shops today. A nice thick layer of biscuit with a thin layer of caramel, sandwiched in chocolate. Alas, nowadays, everything that used to be great about this sweet treat is no more.
I have been faithful to the Twix despite all the negatives, as just a little hint of flavour from what they used to be totally like is better than nothing at all and everything has to change right? Well most things that stand the test of time have to anyway.
So what is it about this sweet that makes it so special? I don't think you can pin point anything specific about it, but all the flavours seem to come together and make it work.
When I was younger, right into my twenties, I used to have a self diagnosed Twix addiction. I couldn't stop at one Twix, I would end up eating between 2 and 4 in one sitting(Yes visits to the dentists were plentiful). After years in the Twix wilderness, going from different chocolate bar to different chocolate bar, I always come back to the Twix.
I would recommend this chocolate bar to anyone, accept no substitute!
I also discovered Peanut Butter Twix's in the States a few years ago...Oh my god they actually work!!
Summary: Great little biscuity chocolate treat
