Advantages: Very good on calories, a nice taste, a good texture and fun for kids
Disadvantages: The strawberry flavour is a little bland
Last week we had some beautiful weather so I took my grandaughters to the park where we decided to treat ourselves to an ice cream. I only wanted something small because my diet is still going well and I did not want to spoil it so I chose a Mini Milk because they only contain about 40 calories.
The wrapper I thought was very pretty. I had picked a strawberry one and it came in a pretty pink wrapper that was covered with pictures of little cartoon cows, it is definitely aimed at children but I thought it was lovely too.
It smells a little bit like strawberry milkshake and when I first bit into it I realised it tastes like it as well. It has quite a bland strawberry flavour and I think I can taste milk more than I can taste strawberry but it is a very creamy and tasty ice cream. It melts quickly in my mouth and as it melts the taste of strawberry does get a little stronger but there isn't the robust strawberry flavour that I would like or expect from a manufacturer such as Walls. The Mini Milk leaves a nice fruity aftertaste which is very nice and leaves my mouth with a lovely summery feeling.
I really like the texture of Mini Milk ice creams because they are quite solid but melt quickly which makes them ideal for even the smallest child providing you do not mind cleaning them up as the ice cream drips down the stick.
You can buy Mini Milks in chocolate or vanilla as well and I have tried the vanilla one which is lovely and creamy and very cooling in the summer sun. I do not think I fancy the chocolate variety because I am not a big fan of chocolate ice cream and I think it would be a little bit tasteless if the flavouring is anything like the strawberry ice cream I sampled at the park.
My Mini Milk only cost me 30p from the ice cream van but I have seen them in boxes of 8 in Sainsburys which gives you a selection of flavours and I think this only costs about £1.39 which is very good value I think.
Summary: A lovely cold treat when the sun finally comes back to the UK!
