Clarins Face Treatment Oil Blue Orchid

Clarins Blue Orchid Oil is very possibly one of the most luxurious and beautiful products I have ever owned. It has done wonders for my sensitive skin, and always makes me feel relaxed, happy, and at ease whenever I use it. The combination of the sensations of the oils caring for my skin, and the stunning fragrance of the product ( I ... cannot highlight enough how beautiful this product smells), make for a truly wonderful experience each and every time I use it.
For £29.00 you can buy from Clarins a 30ml glass pot of this oil which will last you for ever. Each time it is used only a tiny amount is required, 2 - 3 drops maximum. You simply warm the droplets between your hands and pat onto your face whilst it is still slightly damp from your toner. When patted onto the skin it initially does seem like there cannot be enough oil to actually do any good for your face and neck, but I assure you, you will instantly see and feel that the perfect amount has been applied. You will look and feel refreshed and rehydrated. I sometimes use a small amount of tissue as recommended by Clarins to very lightly dab the excess from my face after a minute or two, but to be honest, I don't do this every time and have not encountered any issues in not doing so. The oil will of course leave a residue on your face, but as it states to use this oil in an evening, I do not think this causes any problem. It is oil at the end of the day, it is going to be shiny, and it doesn't last forever or make you greasy. I like the shine anyway - it makes me feel all pampered that I can see the goodness on my skin before settling down for the night! If, however, you do not like the feeling of having something stay on your skin and like a product to instantly soak in - then this is not for you. I do implore you though, to please try and bear with it, try and enjoy the experience, because the results are outstanding.
Since using this oil my skin has become noticeably healthier, brighter, and so much softer it defies anything I could have ever expected from the product. To the touch my skin is like silk or velvet, and to look at it there is such a healthy glow. I, of course, chose this as my skin is sensitive and dehydrated, but should you not have dehydrated skin then please do try one of the other treatment oils - I have faith that they are all as stunning as one another.
The bottle the oil is contained in looks just as beautiful as the treatment feels. It is a lovely glass bottle with a gold screw top that has an attached dropper applicator. The dropper allows just enough of the oil to be placed onto your fingers for you to control the amount of product going onto your skin. No waste, no spillages, no mess. (The picture on here is not the same bottle as the product is now sold in. It is far more lovely looking).
I cannot think of any negatives to this product, and I cannot think of any reason not to recommend it. All I will say is be careful not to buy one that is not suitable for your skin. The amount of hydration I have received from this oil has been wonderful for my skin, but as I say it is dehydrated. If you were to use this with normal or oily skin, I can imagine it would make far too much residue and would have a negative effect. Just look at them all, and decide which is for you. Still not sure? Visit a Clarins counter and have them look at you and recommend. It really would be a shame to get the wrong one and not experience the amazing benefits of these wonder oils!

Clarins Wonder Length Mascara

I am going to begin my review of this wonderful Clarins Wonder Length Mascara with observations of the packaging. Why? Because I think it is stunning!
The mascara is presented as a long, thin, and curved golden tube, with a golden Clarins stamp towards the base. It is very aesthetically pleasing and hints of luxury and class. ... The gold colour is very deep and the shine is beautiful! Personally, when I take this mascara out from my make-up bag I smile each time. It really does look lovely and really does feel luxurious to hold and use. The wand twists out with the cap, and is very long and thin. The applicator itself is of a good width, and has short thin bristles to apply the product inside.
There are unfortunately also some downsides to the packaging; the gorgeous gold unfortunately marks very easily and needs a wipe to keep the luxury feel or it can look dirty. Also, the threading of the screw cap seems to get quite 'gunked' up with the product (but I do find this with other mascara's too). A quick wipe and problem solved.
The mascara is, at the moment, £20 direct from Clarins for a 6ml tube. For the high quality products Clarins offer, and for the fact the product does last, this is a very good price. It has a recommended life of 6 months once open, but this is the case with most mascara's - you do not want old products near your eyes!

The mascara itself is a dream to apply. It coats the lashes very easily and I do not clog them all together. The wand separates each of them very effectively, and the length is greatly increased. I find after I have used it that I get compliments on how my lashes look, and I feel confident in their appearance. They are long, luscious, and with a definite curl. The product can indeed be applied with just one coat to a lovely effect, or also may be layered to achieve the individuals' desired effect, and can be subtle or bold. This of course is only my experience of the product, and unfortunately my mum had a completely different one to me...
Now I will point out that my lashes are already long, and this may make the product apply much more effectively. I say this because my mum has short lashes, and she actually bought this for herself hoping that she would be able to achieve the long look when she goes out for an evening. She was, however, very very disappointed. When she applied the mascara she ended up with what can only be described as a clumpy mess. Her eyes looked bogged down with black gunk and her eyelashes if anything just looked stumpy and shorter - much the opposite of what this mascara offers. I was shocked when I saw this, and hence why I tried the mascara myself to a very different end.
So, it appears that unfortunately Clarins may have let a few of their customers down; the customers to whom this very product is actually aimed at. For me, with already long lashes, this is a dream product. Lengthening my lashes to the skies and defining my eyes! For my mum, with short lashes and wanting an excellent lengthening product, she finds this a horror product which highlights the lack of length in her lashes, and clumps them together making a mess. It is for these reasons that unfortunately the Wonder Length Mascara gets such low stars. I indeed adore it; however, I am not in need of it. Those with shorter lashes who it is aimed at will probably be very disappointed. Please, though, do try it yourself and give it a chance if you wish.

Clarins Gentle Night Cream

This cream has made a huge difference to the appearance of my skin in a morning. I used to find I would wake up with tight skin that felt quite dry and sometimes ... irritated. This is obviously worse in the colder months when the central heating is on a sapping the hydration from my skin, but I suffered from this daily anyway as I work with hot ovens and air conditioning for long hours a day. Now, I find that my skin feels quite smooth and soft first thing in a morning, which puts my skin in good stead for my daily morning cleansing routine. It means the morning routine is more effective, as I am starting with a far healthier and hydrated canvas to begin with. I have found the redness which I suffer from in my cheeks is indeed soothed and as previously stated, the irritations are also soothed.
There is a slight residue left on the skin after using this product, and perhaps people who do not like to feel anything left after moisturising may dislike this cream. I, however, think the feeling is lovely for night time and creates an extra feeling of moisture and hydration.
The positive results may also be from the combination of cleanser and toner I have specifically bought for evening use as well as the cream, but I originally used a standard day cream in the evening, and was skeptical that an evening cream would make any difference at all, but I am very happy with the results and would not go back to using an ordinary cream in an evening. I highly recommend this product to anyone who is not currently using an evening cream and wants to give their skin an extra level of care.
Obviously this particular cream is for us with dry/sensitive skin, but there are creams for other skin types in the Clarins Gentle range, and I have no doubt in my mind they will also work from my very positive experience with this particular cream. Use it and you will wake with happy, hydrated, and stress free skin! Lovely.
