Advantages: Gentle, nice fragrance, easy to use, removes make-up

Disadvantages: 75ml bottle is a little small, pricey

I first heard about the Clarins Daily Energisers range in various magazines and the products grabbed my attention as they are aimed at people in their 20's who want to steer clear of both teenage skincare and heavy anti ageing products. I am in my late 20's and I still struggle to find the right products for my skin type which is combination and acne prone so I thought I would stop by the Clarins counter at my local Boots and give it a try. I explained to the assistant that I was interested in the range and she gave me sample sizes of the Cleanser, Toner and Moisturiser to try at home for free! Having tried the products, I have decided to review my favourite of the trio; the Cleansing Gel.

Clarins Daily Energiser Cleansing Gel comes in a 75ml tube bottle which a light orange/peach colour and it claims to remove make-up and pollution for clean, blemish-free, detoxified skin. The cleanser is transparent and is in a runny gel form. It has a fresh, slightly fruity scent which is quite hard to describe but it is a pleasant smell! I have usually steered clear of Clarins in the past because I feel they over-perfume their products but the scent of this Cleanser is not too overbearing luckily.
This is a foaming gel Cleanser and I found it quite easy to later up with a little water, using only a pea size amount of the product. I used it both morning and evening , rinsing off with water in the morning and using a damp muslin cloth at night to help remove make-up. I was pleasantly surprised how gentle this cleanser is- usually gel cleansers leave my face feeling tight and dry but this doesn't at all. Instead it leaves my face feeling soft and smooth yet clean and it does a decent job of removing foundation, blusher etc too! It also leaves my skin looking calm (I am prone to redness after cleansing) and doesn't give me any blemishes either.
Although this cleanser is targeted at 20 something skin, I feel it would be suitable for any age as it is so gentle and easy to use. All-in-all, this is a very good gel cleanser which I would recommend. The only thing I would say is that my skin didn't really look 'energised' afterwards but then again, nothing really makes me look like that anyway!

Clarins Daily Energiser Cleansing Gel retails for £10.50 and is available from Boots, John Lewis, Debenhams plus many other department stores. It is widely available online too. I feel that £10.50 for 75ml is bit costly and I am surprised Clarins don't make any bigger sizes of this cleanser. I would say go and have a look online as you may be able to get it cheaper, especially on eBay. Also, visit your local Clarins counter and see if you can get sample sizes first before splurging any cash.

Summary: A great cleansing gel which I would recommend to anyone of any age!
