Advantages: Wide range of colours, gives a nice natural look, softens lips

Disadvantages: Expensive

I have a few of the Clarins Colour Quench Lip Balms although have only actually bought one. The others are half size tubes which I have got free when you buy two Clarins products during the offers that they seem to have every other month.

The lip balms retail for around £13 for a full size balm which is 15mls although if you shop online you can often get them cheaper. Clarins products are available in most large department stores and also large Boots stores.

The lip balms contain extracts of Shea Butter, Wild Mango and Olive perhydrosqualene (absolutely no idea what that is!) but these ingredients are all designed to soften and repair. There are also derivatives of Vitamins A and E which will repair and protect the lips.

The lip balm comes in a tube with a screw cap. Unscrewing the cap reveals the applicator which is a sloping surface with a small hole through which you can release a little of the balm if you squeeze the tube gently. I find them very easy to use and have never squeezed too much lip balm out so there isn't really much wastage.

Once the lip balm goes onto my lips it leaves my lips looking glossy but not the wet-look that you get with some lip glosses. Instead it's a nice more natural subtle look with some colour and shine. It also lasts for quite a while providing you aren't doing too much eating or drinking in which case you will have to reapply. Using it also leaves your lips feeling soft as it works as a lip balm as well as giving your lips colour.

The lip balm comes in about 14 different colours so there is bound to be a colour that suits you. They have lovely mouthwatering choices including Raspberry, Mandarin, Cherry and Butterscotch.

This is a nice product but it is quite expensive. I shall be looking out for some more free samples in the future.

Summary: A nice range of lip balms from Clarins which look good but are expensive
