Advantages: Lasts a long time (both in the bottle and once on you), unique fragrance, quality brand & product
Disadvantages: Don't over do it when spraying, you may not like it so try it first
I have been a big fan and regular user of Clarins products for over 5 years now. I have tried LOTS of different products, covering myself from top to toe and they all have one thing in common - quality.
I came to use Clarins for the first time after a recommendation from my eldest sister. We all (myself and my 2 sisters) have what can only be described as rather 'dodgy' skin. My skin is VERY sensitive to almost everything - washing powders, alot of make-up, soaps, toilettries, some perfumes, all metals (apart from gold & platinum, much to my husbands delight!) and a few other things aswell. Suffice it to say, I have tried and discarded lorry loads of moisturisers, deodorants, shower gels, shampoos and virtually anything else you would put on your skin on a regular basis. I have friends who have done very nicely out of my 'trials' over the years, but no matter what, I always seem to end up back with Clarins.
I currently have 2 bottles of Eau Ressourcante both of which were given to me as presents in sets around 3 years ago now. I believe the current retail price of a 100ml bottle is around £28.50 from Clarins, however, you can often find sets where it is teamed up with a shower gel and body cream from the same range for roughly the same price as buying the fragrance alone. It is often marketed under the heading 'Calm' by Clarins. My bottle came in a large (classically Clarins) red box with the other products nestled either side of it.
It comes in quite a vibrant blue glass ovoid bottle with a white plastic lid. The glass is clear enough to see the contents and you can therefore easily see how much is left. Once the lid is removed, you find a fairly standard atomiser/pump for dispensing the fragrance.
Now, I am a bit fussy about perfumes and do not like very heavy/musty/overpowering fragrances (think Opium or Poision for example). This perfume is about as far towards that end of the fragrance spectrum I would be willing to go. Yes, it isn't floaty and flowery and if you were overly liberal in your application you may smell it for a week, but it is a very unique and I think likeable and wearable fragrance.
The Clarins blurb describes it as "a long-lasting woody-floral which helps to release tension, clear and calm the mind and restore balance". I'm not sure about the restoring balance and all that, but I would say a woody floral pretty much sums it up. I can definately smell the cedar, Basil and Iris in it and I think the fact that you only need one or two pumps on the spray to have the desired effect is a bonus. The bottle will last longer if you don't have to douch yourself in it and the fragrance itself will still be lingering many hours later - I do hate it when you use a perfume, it smells great, but you can't smell it at all an hour or two later. As you would expect from a Clarins product, there are other plant extracts and essential oils in the Eau Ressourcante including Benzoin, Sarsaparilla, Robinia and Longan. Clarins are associated with high end cosmetics using only the best natural ingredients and this fragrance is no exception.
As I mentioned previously, I have had this fragrance for a few years and it still smells as good and lasts as long as it did when I first had it. I like to wear it during the day or of an evening as I wouldn't class it as a daytime or nighttime fragrance.
I would recommend this to anyone wanting something slightly different from a perfume, but do pop along to one of the MANY Clarins counters in your local department store/Boots etc to have a try first, as taste in fragrance is such an individual thing. I am giving this 4 stars as I do really like it, but it's not my favourite Clarins product or my favourite perfume.
Summary: Unique and quality frangrance from a high end brand
