Advantages: Hydrates. Makes skin feel taut. For sensitive skin. A little goes a long way.

Disadvantages: The price!

I've been using Clarins HydraQuench Intensive Serum Bi-Phase for about the past two months. A few months ago I was feeling very run down and one of the signs that I really wasn't feeling my best was that my skin was dull and dry - and if my skin isn't feeling good, it really makes me feel even worse. The Clarins HydraQuench Intensive Serum Bi-Phase was recommended to me by a saleslady on the Clarins counter at Boots and although she recommended this serum to me, she also let me try it out - and I was really impressed and so went ahead and bought a bottle. There is no getting away from the fact that this product is very expensive at £39.00 for a small 30ml bottle, but in it's defensive, I have found that a little goes a long way and that this little bottle has lasted me for the last few months (although I have been using it roughly alternative days rather than every day).

The Clarins HydraQuench Intensive Serum Bi-Phase comes in a small blue tinted glass bottle with a white pull off lid. Underneath the lid there is a nozzle which needs to be depressed in order to release some of the serum into your hand. I generally find that three squirts is enough for my face and neck - and that really is a very small amount.

Using the product is easy and just the same as using any moisturising product. The bottle needs to be shaken in order to mix the oil and non-oil layer. Then, I have cleansed my face using my usual product, I then I squirt three squirts of the product into my hand and then gently massage it onto my face using my finger tips. The serum is thin and runny and it spreads thinly and goes a long way. It has a really nice fresh smell to it and a nice blue tint and it is absorbed quickly and easily. I then add a Clarins to the top of this layer - and I really do start to feel refreshed.

After using it, my skin feels hydrated and soft, and my skin feels taut and radiant. The skin on my face really does feel very good and healthy and the dry patchy areas clear up within about three applications. While the instructions suggest that you should use the serum morning and evening, I personally have never found the need to do so and applying every other day works just as well - and makes it last longer! While I have sensitive skin, I haven't reacted negatively to this product at all, and all the news (with the exception of the price) is very good.

Summary: Recommended for use occasionally.
