Advantages: Very fast absorbed

Disadvantages: The Price maybe

I am a perfectionist when it comes to looking after my hair, skin and nails and I don't mind paying over the odds for a treatment, cream or lotion as long as it is going to be worth the money. I am very much a believer in that you get what you pay for and more often than not I strive to pay for the best because it makes me feel good about myself and if I am looking good I am feeling happy.

As well as looking after my hair, which to me is my prized asset, I like to look after my skin after all there is no point in having lovely luscious locks if my skin resembles that of Freddie Kruger. So I do have a skin regime which involves weekly face masks, moisturising, exfoliating and cleansing, it isn't all a daily routine more of a weekly one to ensure I complete every task but I do moisturise on a daily basis and I had recently grown tired of using my clinique moisturiser, I wanted something new and different. So I went along to my local Debenhams to have a look around to see what was on offer. Located just inside the door is the Clarins stall which did have an offer on where by you buy two products and gets one free as well as a free gift bag with seven mini products enclosed and having browed for a few seconds a very nice well made up lady asked me if I was needing any help. The first thing to do to get my attention is to have your staff looking how I would want to look when using a product.

The sales assistant asked me what the issue was with my skin and what type of product I was looking for, so I explained that I was looking for a moisturiser that would give me extra care and leave my skin feeling hydrated and last for an entire day without feeling the need to re-apply constantly to get the smooth feel I was looking for. Living and working in an over populated and over-polluted city does tire your skin out and every product I buy Clarins Hydration-Plus Moisture Lotion.

The Clarins Hydration-Plus Moisture Lotion is designed for all skin types and to date is Clarins most advanced treatment designed to combat damaging environmental aggressions, which for me is what I am looking for. It is also designed to give day-long radiance, comfort and hydration for my skin and it also protects against UV rays and light exposure which could be potentially harmful. All of this is achieved with the ingredients Clarins put into their product and the sales assistant informed me that one of the main ingredients is honey because that as a substance in beauty cream encourages moisture and helps to keep the skin hydrated. There is also a slight orangey smell to the cream when you begin to apply it to your face and I was told that if I kept the cream in a cool place or put it into the fridge for 30 minutes to an hour before I used it them I would feel the benefits from the coolness as it soothes my face. For a full list of ingredients you will find them listed on the accompanying box but the ones for a notable mention are Ash, Ginseng and Orange Blossom.

This product is sold for £21 and for that price you are given a 50ml bottle which is a pump action bottle with a pull off cap. When using this you only need to pump the top twice at the very most to ensure you have enough cream for your entire face and neck. However before you do use this cream, as with any other moisturising cream do ensure that you have cleansed your face properly to ensure you get maximum benefits because there is no point in moisturising a face that is covered in dirt, washing your face isn't really enough, you need to cleanse using a lotion and some cotton wool to remove as much dirt and grime as possible that has clung onto your pores. Then using the pump action top run the cream onto your palms (clean hands essential) gently apply the cream to your face ensuring that you massage it completely into your skin.

One of the good things about this cream is that it isn't too thick in consistency so it is easily absorbed with a little massaging and whilst you are massaging the cream into your skin you should be able to smell the orange blossom. As I was told to put my cream into the fridge prior to using it I do find that my face feels much better for the whole day because it feels really fresh, but it isn't a must do requirement, I just find it makes me feel better.

Once the cream has been applied to your skin it should feel soft and smooth immediately and the one thing I like about this cream is that it doesn't make your skin look shiney or greasy, it kind of controls your t-zones by itself so you don't need another product to work with it. The smell does linger on your skin for most of the day and since I started to use it I do actually feel much better in myself, my skin is much fresher looking and I am happy in the knowledge that this cream was designed specifically to combat damaging environmental aggressions, so I can walkabout my busy city knowing my skin is protected.

So if you re like me and want your skin to look its best 24 hours a day and don't mind paying a little bit extra for it then I definitely recommend this product for you, it is brilliant and it definitely will not be leaving my shelf anytime soon, the only advice I would give to you is to shop around for better prices.

Summary: A face cream from Clarins
