~Clarins Smoothing Body Scrub For A New Skin~
This body scrub is offered by premium beauty brand Clarins. A body scrub is designed to exfoliate the skin, ridding it of rough cells and is commonly used to prepare the skin for self tanning.
This body scrub has some key ingredients which encourage it to remove the rough areas, impurties and leave your skin soft and smooth.
*Bamboo powder - exfoliation
*Liquorice extract - softens
*Mimosa Tenuiflora - repairs
*Shea and cyamopsis - conditions the skin
*Moringa extract - removes toxins and purifies
This body scrub can be used on dry or damp skin and it is recommended that you use it once or twice per week. Concentrate on the rougher areas of your body, massage the scrub onto the skin and then rinse.
~Packaging~
This body scrub is conveniently presented in a plastic tube with a flip top cap. The tube is white with red writing and is typically Clarins in design. The tube can be recycled and this product has a 12month shelf life.
~Price and Availability~
A 200ml tube can be purchased from www.clarins.com, Clarins counters (House of Fraser, Debenhams) and online priced at £28.00. It is worth waiting for the Gift With Purchase offers which include lots of trial sized products with two purchases.
~My Thoughts~
I like to try out new body scrubs and whilst I favour Soap and Glory scrubs over any others, it is always good to sample something new. I have a few tubes of this body scrub in my beauty box which I received as part of Clarins promotions. £28.00 is a lot to pay for a body scrub and I would recommend sourcing a sample tube (either from Clarins directly or online). A 75ml tube can be bought very cheaply from eBay.
I quite like Clarins skincare and makeup products but I was unsure how their shower/body products would be and if they would really be worth the premium cost. The smooth plastic tube housing this body scrub is quite plain but functional. I keep my tube on the edge of my bath for using when needed. I find the recommended twice weekly use to be perfectly fine as over use of scrubbing products can cause discomfort to the skin.
~I Want New Skin!~
I very rarely self tan but I use body scrubs to rid my skin of those dry, flaky areas. I am prone to flaky areas around my knees and at the top of my arms so pay particular attention to these areas. Sometimes a body cream just isn't enough to leave my skin completely free of rough areas. I personally apply this to damp skin whilst showering - I don't think I would feel comfortable using it onto bone dry skin!
The scrub itself is a peachy colour and resembles a fairly thick but soft cream. The consistency of the scrub makes it very easy to apply to damp skin and a small blob spreads very well. The scrub doesn't have much of a scent - it smells cosmetic like and quite generic. A fruity smell would have worked well and made this scrub that little bit more appealing. Once applied to damp skin, the scrub feels very soft and turns into a creamy layer which feels quite luxurious.
Whilst the creamy layer conditions and protects my skin, I can feel the bamboo powder particles. These aren't visible but I can feel them as I massage the scrub over my skin. The bamboo powder feels very fine and kind to skin - it doesn't feel as scrubby or as harsh as other scrubs but this could well be down to the fact that it is mixed thoroughly with the creamy layer.
The scrub rinses effortlessly from my skin leaving it free from residue. Unlike some body scrubs, my skin doesn't appear red or irritated by this scrub so I can confirm it is gentle and suitable for sensitive skin. Once my skin has been dried off, I am pleased with the results offered by this body scrub. All over, my skin feels soft and smooth and the scrub doesn't dehydrate my skin or leave it feeling tight. This scrub does work particularly well on the flaky areas and 'de-scales' me so to speak and leaves my skin feeling great. These areas are left supple and smooth and my skin looks much healthier and fresh.
~Conclusion~
So, this scrub works well and my skin benefits from the combination of bamboo powders and the creamy layer (which I assume includes the shea and other notable ingredients) but unless I get this as part of a set, I won't be buying it at £28.00 a time. The tubes do last incredibly well and the results are long lasting. I do apply body cream after using the scrub but it isn't essential. I do like the way my skin feels after using this product but in all honesty, it doesn't do any more or any less than much cheaper scrubs.
I will use my tubes up but I will continue to buy Soap and Glory as they offer smooth skin AND a gorgeous scent at a 1/3 of the price!
Thanks for reading :)
