Clinique All About Eyes Serum
by Lydsabug
I bought this when it was first launched, i was in Debenhams and was approcahed by a rather beautiful young girl who told me she used this serum herself.....if she could look that good then why couldnt I? Duly bought i took it home.
I have always used Clinique products as my skin is really sensitive and can be a little ... blotchy, having tried various other products including haemorrhoid cream (apparently this is supposed to reduce puffiness around the eyes and all the models use it!?), where nothing does what it says, or in the case of the haemorrhoid cream, stung like crazy. I suffer with 'bags' under my eyes a lot of the mornings and although i dont have dark circles yet, im sure these will follow if i dont sort the puffiness. I have used creams in the evenings to reduce this glorious look but in fact, it would only appear worse in the morning so i really need something a little different.
I was rather hoping to get the serum with the Bonus Time scheme but that wasnt available, the girl gave me a few samples of other products and i duly paid my £28 (rather pricey), I know there are cheaper versions but i hadnt tried these for fear of getting that much skin irritation my eyes closed altogether and that would have been disastrous at the school playground the following day! It was a 15ml mascara sized potion that has a metal rollerball action, dispensing a slither of soothing lotion in the undereye area, the packaging was the usual green Clinique box and was nothing less than i expected....it looks good.
I decided i would use the serum in the morning after the school drop as i would have a chance to sort any reaction quite quickly, and indeed i was expecting this. I had cleaned my face and without makeup set to work with the product. It contains antioxidants and botanical substances but its main power is the caffeine and this was the key ingredient i believe. It was lovely and refreshing when applied and just a few rolls were enough under each eye. I waited for 30 minutes to see if there was an effect (adverse) but i didnt feel any irritation at all, so I applied my makeup and continued through the day.
Over the period of about 3 months i can honest say that as refreshing as the serum feels, i cant really say I saw any lasting effects from it, maybe its better for dark circles than puffiness, which it tackled as soon as it was applied but didnt seem to last the day and when you are wearing makeup, its difficult to remove this, reapply and then put the makeup back on.
Overall, i would say that this serum is good but i guess that maybe a lot that use the same method will be as good, the advantage with the Clinique one is that we know its anti allergenic. Apparently, some people have an allergy to caffeine so i would maybe try a cheaper version before you part with the money for this one....always best to check. I would only buy this again if i had a lot of spare cash as it didnt really give me a lasting solution to my puffiness but or those of you with dark circles, i believe it may be worth the investment. Clinique All About Eyes
by nile123
My aunt is a big Clinique fan. She has a habit of going down to their stand in the department store every couple of months, talking to their advisers and she always comes back with something or the other. I never got what her hype was all about. Then she got a free gift with one of her purchases one day with a few miniature products and ... she decided to give it to me to test and try out. I was obviously very pleased because I had wanted to try the products out but I didn't want to spend money on something I was unsure about.
The first thing I tried was this all about eyes cream which came in a small glass orange coloured container. The packaging was appealing I must admit. One of my main problem areas is actually my dark circles under my eyes so I was very impatient to see what this cream could do for me. I applied it to my under eye area before going to bed and it was very smooth and lightweight and felt like a luxurious product. It softened my under eye area, it hydrated it but after continuous use for a week, I didn't see much of a difference. It was really disappointing because I did have high hopes. I just think that it would maybe work for someone with tired eyes or dehydrated eyes, but if you naturally have dark shadows, this will not lighten them at all. For an everyday eye cream just to make sure your eye area is looked after, this is perfect. But if you have some sort of issue with wrinkles or dark circles, this isn't going to solve it.
It is said to be a moisture rich cream which in the long run, boosts natural collagen production. I of course had other expectations. I do not doubt on the other hand that it is definitely hydrating for the eye area.
Another thing that bothered me a little about this cream was that it smelt very much of chemicals. It didn't smell very nice which I wouldn't care about had the cream worked.
A 15ml bottle retails for 25 pounds which is a lot of money considering it is only a small amount. I'm glad I didn't spend any of my money buying the product. I definitely need something that specifically targets dark circles. I know they have now come out with 'even better eyes dark circle corrector' and as much as I am tempted to go and buy it, I am holding out a little longer for other people to see results. Clinique High Impact Mascara
by Sarmac86
I first received this mascara in a sample size with one of clinique's 'bonus time' gift sets as I regularly use their skincare products. Normally it would be out of my price range as a mascara isn't something I would spend too much on, but after trying the free sample I was so impressed I now own the full size version!
The ... packaging is very sleek - a black tube with product details written on the side and a black lid which unscrews to reveal the applicator. I prefer a thick mascara brush so I was very please to see that this was nice and thick with plenty of bristles. The brush was very soft and easy to use - it added a nice amount of volume, coated all my eyelashes evenly and there was no clumping or sticking together of eyelashes. It was also surpisingly easy to reach the corner eyelashes with such a thick brush.
The colour that I received in the sample was black (there is a black brown available) which gave a great finish - it enhanced my eyes and did make my eyelashes look thicker. I have also tried the newer shade of brightening black which claims to enhance the eyes more, but I can't really see a huge difference between this and the original black.
I wasn't expecting much in terms of staying power - this mascara makes no promises to be smudgeproof or waterproof but I was pleasantly surprised. There was no smudging or flaking and even an emotional evening barely moved the mascara - I expected panda eyes but was left with no such thing! The only thing that really seems to make the mascara smudge is washing your face or getting caught in a heavy downpour. However, it was incredibly easy to remove. I initially used clinique own eye make up remover (another freebie) which got rid of all traces very quickly, but even using a cheaper eye make up remover did the trick very well.
This is a product i will continue to use (and clinique regularly have it as a freebie in their bonus time gifts!) and I think it is worth the premium price. I tend not to wear mascara every day so this product lasts me a long time. However, if you were a more frequent user it will still probably last 6 months (by which time it is hygienic to throw it away anyway). It may be at the higher end of the price scale, but it is a great buy. Read the complete review |
